I really like this beer. It's nothing special. It is very smooth and easily drinkable. Has some great cinnamon and nutmeg flavor. Not strong though. Very easy on the palate.

Fitting winter lager and a seasonable taste to this bock. Fairly well balanced for a mass produced beer. Very dark amber color.

Old Brown Dog but not as good.

12oz bottle (best before April) poured into a pint glass shows a clear, dark copper colored body and briefly floats a 1/4in tan cap of soapy bubbles which diminish to an edge-hugging ring with legs leaving a clean glass.

Aroma is muted spiciness that I can't specifically identify with a cracker malt.

Flavor is spicy, could be cinnamon, and slight orange peel, but I don't quite get the ginger. The sweet caramel flavor dominates. The combination combines to remind me of winter, though.

Mouthfeel is light and clean with no aftertaste and a clean finish.

Overall a refreshing beer for all day consumption on a winter day.

I purchased a six pack of this at a local grocery store last week. I thought it would be a nice gateway beer from the Autumn seasonals to the Holiday/Winter beers.

Samuel Adams Winter Lager pours a dark amber/caramel hue with a decent head that leaves behind a pretty nice lacing.

The aroma is sweet and malty with some caramel thrown in. It definitely reminds me of a Bock. I can get some small hints of the orange peel and cinnamon listed on the bottle.

The flavor pretty much falls in line with the aroma. It starts out sweet and malty with some caramel and orange but I can detect the cinnamon and even a bit of the ginger in the finish.

I see in the style listing this is considered a Bock and I would have to agree. I enjoyed this beer and it does pair nicely with the colder temperatures this time of year.

A solidly good winter lager. Not exceptional.

I really enjoy Bock beers. This one is just ok. Color is good. Distinct lack of smell. The spices weren’t anything special in this one either. Definitely ether than the name brand light beers, but not my favorite Bock.

Looks great. Brilliant reddish brown. Smells and tastes fairly caramel with that spice taste in there, which I don't love. Goes down pretty easy like a lager should. The wheat is in there too. Solid but unspectacular but I respect Sam Adams as the legend they are.

Fine for what it is - good use of caramel malt, not a tremendous amount of lager yeast or anything like that but it is categorized as a bock, mild on flavor but perfect in an anonymous, forgetable way.
