12 oz. bottle, the label on the side of the bottle is notched at best by June 2013. Poured into my Firestone Walker pint glass.

A - Somewhat darkish amber color with a nice finger of fluffy draft head. Steady bubbles rushing up to the top. Scattered lacing.

S - Light toasted malts with a very light lemon hop scent but it's all very faint, and there is little else happening here. Some kind of a fruity dark cherry presence buried in there also that I can't place.

T - More smooth, less carbonated, and hoppier than I was expecting from this beer. Lagers usually tend to disappoint me, and Samuel Adams always tends to lean toward mediocre, but they've impressed me here.

M - Well-balanced, well-bodied, sweet fruit sugar aftertaste, & some sticky bitter hop lingerance.

Overall, the simple yet highly drinkable inaugural brew from Samuel Adams. Definitely recommended for people who enjoy Lagers and perhaps even for those who don't. Not the most exciting of all beers brewed by The Boston Beer Company, but definitely one you'll want to revisit every now and again.

Old reliable. The gateway beer of all gateway beers. A kind welcome to the world of better beer. Smooth, simple, and refined, an unpretentious lager that makes for an excellent nostalgic session beer. Caramel malts and sweetness with a modest hop presence. Crisp, refreshing, and good for almost any situation.
