Poured from a bottle to a tulip glass.

A-Pours a nice looking copper, with a rusted red tint and hints of darker amber. About one to two finger head fizzles out quickly but does leave a nice bit of lacing upon the glass.

S-Earthly malts with a hit of roasted caramel.

M- Nicely carbonated pretty average overall.

T- A nice sense of lager with deeper malts and a bit of a sweet bready aftertaste that leaves a nice note on the tip of the tongue.

O-For many of us, Sam Adams is the first definable craft beer that we have tasted. Sam Adams flagship should be respected for what it has done for the industry, and it is a definitive step up from macro brews, but when it comes to taste it is nothing above average.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams Boston Lager glass. Taken from Sam Adams's "Harvest Collection" seasonal variety pack.

Appearance: Pours a translucent, copper color with a large, frothy head that dissipates quickly and leaves behind some decent lacing.

Smell: Has a crisp, grainy smell with a little bit of malty sweetness. Faint smell of spicy Noble hops as well.

Taste: Has a crisp, toasty taste up front with a good amount of coarse, hoppy bitterness. Finishes toasty, bitter, and slightly sweeter with a nice toasty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: Crisp and well-carbonated with a nice body to it as well.

Overall: Rightly or wrongly, this is the standard Vienna lager today. It's a fairly easy-drinking, accessible lager with a good amount of flavor and a nice hop profile. Nothing world-changing, but something I never mind having every time I open a Sam Adams mixed pack.
