I went into Boston Lager expecting a Coor/Budweiser/Miller/Michelob equivalent, but it is in all honesty far beyond that.

I have had Sam Adams Imperial White before, and this resembles a less intense version of that. Noble hops are clearly present in a passive form, and there is a more bold taste over the traditional american style lager.

Head retention and lacing is ideal, the aroma is crisp, the finish is refreshing, and overall, this is absolutely best american lager I've ever had bar none.

I highly recommend this as a permanent upgrade for anybody considering bringing any of the 4 beers mentioned in the opening paragraph to a party. It's just better. No debate about it.

BBE August, 2012. Poured from a 12oz bottle into my Moonlight shaped pint glass.

Brilliantly clear orange peel/amber liquid is topped by a low creamy layer of off-white foam. Light sticky lacing, good retention.

Clean faintly nutty/toasty malt aromatics. Perhaps a very light grassy note from noble hops?

Bready (or rather, toasty) palate entry with layers of malt. Moderate, clean, hay-like bitterness leads into a pleasing rather dry finish.

Light-bodied, zesty mouthfeel.

A very good example of the style. Easy to drink, but it "scales" well for the appreciation of the beer enthusiast as well.

Almost always the best beer available at places that aren't craft beer oriented.

Very nice looking beer, good dark colour, still some transparency.

Smell of hops and slight but of fruit, nice strong taste, with a little bitterness at the end.

A go to beer on many occasions.
