Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a DFH IPA glass.

A: Light; golden clear, with a fine white head and gentle effervescence.

S: Doesn't quite smell like the Mosaics I've known. Citrus topnote is pleasant, but where is the fruit and pine? Okay, there's the fruit, but also hints the caramel that dominate the East Golding single hop varietal.

T: Mmmmm. Sweet, sweet, fruit. Almost candy-sweet and juicy as all hell (watermelon Jolly Rancher). I could see canned peaches, strong lemon (both juice and zest), pineapple, papaya. Aftertaste is gently and pleasantly bitter, but without any real bite.

M: Smooth, light, and tongue-coating.

O: I do like Mosaic, but I wish the malt base were a bit drier to really highlight hop. Ah, well, still recommended.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of Aug 2014. Sampled on July 21, 2014.

This is a highly attractive looking medium amber pour with a long lasting off-white head that stays to the end and excellent clarity.

The aroma is mellow and subtle with its earthy hop character enhancing the grainy and barley malts that introduce themselves first.

The body is definitely in the medium mouthfeel range.

The malts express themselves briefly in the taste but those earthy Mosaic hops take over in short order and penetrate the senses. Samuel Adams knows how to do these specialty brews right and since I cannot get similar brews from other parts of the country I am satisfied with what Sam Adams produces.
