Appearance: Cloudy orange. Leaves a decent lace.
Smell: Banana, bubble gum, and spice.
Taste: Same as smell with the addition of tang and bitterness from citrus.

This is pretty enjoyable. There's a bitterness to it, with dryness. Also, there's a tart aftertaste that lingers on the back of the tongue. Overall, the banana and spice reign. I might get this again.

Samuel Adams Harvest Saison has a thin, off-white head, a murky, gold-orange appearance (which gets even cloudier when the bottom caked contents are swished & poured in), fierce bubble streams, and not much lacing left behind. The aroma is of banana, spiced banana bread, sweetness, and light syrup of some sort. Taste is of spiced bread, slight banana, black pepper, white pepper, Jamaica pepper, white bread, and bread crust, with an end-of-the-sip bitterness to cut the sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Samuel Adams Harvest Saison finishes semi-dry and highly drinkable.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance –The beer pours a hazy orange amber color with a one finger head of off white foam. The head has a fantastic level of retention, very slowly fading to leave a great deal of foamy-bubbly lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is quite funky with a whole lot of grassy and yeasty smells mixed within. Beyond the funk, the yeasty smells also bring along some spice notes of coriander and clove as well as some light fruity aromas. A decent grassy and haylike hop smell and a bit of a more wheaty and grainy smell are there as well creating a rather heavily funked-farmhouse aroma overall.

Taste- The taste starts out with a rather crackery malt taste with a decent showing of yeast and a strong grassy flavor that was detected in the nose. The funkiness is also present from the start with it growing ever stronger as the taste moves on to the end. The funk is complimented nicely by some flavors of a more hay-like nature as well as a bit of coriander spice. Most of the sweetness that was present upfront (being largely of a light fruit nature of pear and apple and maybe a bit of caramel) fades toward the end of the taste with more grassy and funk joining the flavor. In the end the lessening of the sweet and the even more intense funky barnyard flavors of the brew, end up leaving one with a rather potent and heavy funky season flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker and chewier side for a saison of 6.0 % abv. with a carbonation level that is rather average. The thicker body really accentuates the funky flavors nicely really highlighting these in comparison to the other more “commonplace” flavors of the brew.

Overall-At 6.0 % abv this one packs a whole-lota funk into a small package especially for a brew that would be considered a little more “mainstream” due to its more commercial availability (which I actually think is a good thing!!!). Regardless, overall I think it is quite nice for the style and one I rather enjoyed.

Pours a cloudy orange into a tulip glass. A dense foam head that creates lingering lacing down the glass.

The aroma is very nice. A little yeasty funk, a bit of fruit and some sweet malt.

The taste is pretty decent. The light funk in the nose is also there in the tatse although a bit subdues. There is a slight bitter bite with a little candied fruit, a hint of spice and a bit of bready malt.

Mouthfeel is medium and bubbly. Good carbonation.

Overall, a decent saison.

This one is a dark orange with a hue in its body that's almost pink, maybe a fiery red sort of flare. The head is just off-white, almost a finger tall, and it retains itself at that height pretty well while managing good patching.
The smell is a little less complex than the taste. The use of different grains is evident, and there's some light earth and spiciness along with something not quite like raw corn and malty sweetness. Hops add a hint of leafy bitterness.
There's a bitterness that's distinct from the hops, along with an accompanying taste to the grain bill not unlike sour sour mash, with several different elements pointing to a variety of grains and malts. As for the bitterness, it's more akin to spiritous bitters. There's a bit of hop leaf there, too, but it seems additional, even as a touch of bitter herb sneaks out with it. The main player is the malts, every bit as much as the yeast itself. From beginning to end, there's some earth and sweetness accompanying, the sweetness seemingly derived specifically from caramel malts.
The feel is airy and fluffy, but in a solid medium body, off a consistent carbonation. It's dry the whole way through, some sweetness flashing in for a semi-dry effect overall, and it lingers with the grains and sweetness.
