L: Dark brown with a mahogany color at the edges where light comes through. Creamy tan head without much retention.

S: Pleasant chocolate aroma.

T: Doesn't taste as good as it smells. Chocolate is mild but not bad. Some dark malt shows through and there is a little tartness in there as well.

F: Smooth and creamy to start, has a bittersweet finish.

O: I just don't like the taste of flavorings being added to beer, as this one has. The flavor is definitely chocolatey, but the chocolate flavoring just tastes a little off to me. Overall not bad though.

Dark, dark, dark color with deep tan cap that goes away fairly quickly.

Aroma is dark roasted malt with an underlying sweetness that I can't quite place. No hops apparent.

Taste is very rich roasted malt with a noticeable sweetness, sort of like a roasted nut dusted with cocoa power and sugar. Touch of chocolate with a full roundness and low hop presence. Just a few flavors and simply presented but good flavors none the less.

Texture is full.

The resident Guinness fan says this tastes like Guinness with a touch of molasses and I agree. The sweetness is there but not in an intrusive way. From an enthusiast view this is not a conversation stopping beer but it is a well thought out combination and well made. The competency of a first sergeant without any flash or glitter. Sam Adams has a knack for turning out these brews that while not exciting do offer something a bit different in the fall variety pack.

S- Malty with slight aroma of bread and cocoa

T- Prominent malt sweetness with bittersweet chocolate and raisin

F- A little heavy on the tongue but finishes clean

O- Good but a bit sweet for a regular beer

L -- Very dark brown, pours a minimal khaki-hued head that dissipates quickly, leaving no lacing
S -- Malts, oats, brown bread, smoke
T -- Semisweet chocolate, stone fruit, molasses, jasmine notes. The sweetness is a little much.
F -- Thick, much like the feel of the BBC maple ale or the caramel bock

EDIT, to add an overall score: Months after having this, I still remember it as being one of the most disgusting beers I've had.. The sweetness was just so damn artificial

Pours a dark black with decent foamy head and mild lacing. Smells of dark chocolate, coco, malt, and some minor cinnamon. Taste is very nice, full on chocolate flavor up front with a malty smoothness across taste buds. This is a semi sweet beer but not over the top, very nice beer and would recommend for sure.
