Very good cream stout. I found this while I was looking for Left Handed Brewing Milk Stout (Colorado)
Good smell and feel. The was was ok..I was thinking it be more like the Milk Stout. We now have LHB in Massachusetts so I would definitely go with that.

There is a notch on the left side of the label under NOV 2017, and "ENJOY BEFORE MONTH NOTCHED."
Appearance: The body looks black and it has a good sized light khaki head.
Aroma: It has a really nice aroma which is a mix between coffee and burnt popcorn kernels. It is strong enough to leap out of the glass at about arms length but delicate enough that when approached it doesn't become overwhelmingly strong.
Taste: When it hits the palate there is a bit of a roasted and burnt flavor but it is shortly replaced with the taste of coffee. This is then quickly replaced by this nice mix of toffee and burnt toffee which is really the highlight here. That burnt toffee flavor is just a tad sweet and it makes you want to take another sip to drink it again.
Mouthfeel: It feels a bit light in body for a cream stout. There just isn't much texture to the beer, like it is a bit thin. Other than that the beer has a nice flow across the palate and the carbonation feels good. A bit of a dry finish.
Overall: It has some good flavors and aroma but it is lacking in body. It focuses on roasted flavor but it has a nice sweet edge right at the end. It's good enough that I would drink it again.

Appearance This could not have looked better. The solid black beer was buried in a mountain of shaving cream. I got two inches of head for every one inch of beer, and it wasnt even thinking about going away.
Smell The rich, even combination of dark malt and espresso was complimented with a light, very dark chocolate.
Taste The bitter bakers chocolate came on stronger at the taste. The malts lightened up a bit from the nose and I could finally pick up the sweet creamy character.
Mouthfeel Having said that the Cream Stout is a lighter type of stout in the first place, this example was usually light. I did enjoy the bitter finish though.
Drinkability This was a nice Cream Stout that is light on the cream.

Deep dark brown like a walnut from the deepest, darkest woods. Huge tan head settles to an 1/8 of an inch and lasts for most of the duration. Sweet dark toffee and loads of it in the aroma, ice cream, chocolate, peanut brittle, and honey. It is a truly wonderful aroma. Carbonation is blistering. Body is medium with mild chocolate bitterness. Taste is sweet espresso, bakers chocolate, caramel, and a mild burntness. Mild lactic qualities. All the elements are here and it drinks fairly well but for reasons I just cant explain it just doesnt live up to the better milk stouts Ive had.

pours deep mahogany with a creamy, tan head.
Pleasant aroma of sweet milk chocolate and maybe a graham crackerish malt. Not a lot of complexity.
Medium bodied, lactose sugar and sweet chocolate pie with whipped cream on top. Pretty smooth, makes me think this would be a good beginners stout.
Overall, not something i'm going to be running back to, but not bad at all.

A - Poured into standard pint glass. Looks just like a cola, with one finger's worth of dark brown foam. No lacing which may be my glass.
S - Hoppy to the nose, also a touch of chocolate sweetness. Overall a full smell.
T - "That's interesting" was the first thing that crossed my mind on the first sip. Unfortunately, my first impression was a bit off. It's actually rather complacent for a stout, a slightly rough malty profile with very little hop bite in the finish. Not getting the appeal with this one just yet.
M - Has quite an alcohol bite to the finish. Carbonation is good, aftertaste is not quite clean. Weaker body than the stout label would have one believe.
D - It was only with the help of having food that I made it through this beer. Just not going for this one.

I was very impressed with this beer. This one poured a very dark brown color with a great fluffy white head that stuck to the glass. The smell was very roasted with a roasted malt and nut scent as well as a slight hint of coffee. The taste was excelent and smoothe with a bit of toffee flavor and a underlying sweetness that was just right and not cloying at all. This a stout to use to convert people to better brews for sure.

This cream stout pours a nice dark black with some amber tones showing through the light. A small head tops off my pour and doesn't stay around long, but leaves some lace in its wake. Chocolate malt notes invade my nose as well as some coffee undertones. The smell is quite sweet and inviting, almost sugary. The first sip is also quite sweet with a nice chocolate malt flavor and a some hints of coffee and a little hops on the back of the palate. The mouthfeel is a little too thin for me..I prefer a bit more body to my stouts...but it goes down smooth all the same. This is a good drinking stout when you are not looking for something too heavy. Probably my favorite out of the Sam's brews that I've tried so far.

A very nice beer. This was part of the winter 12 pack (as an added bonus the 12er was only $9.99 at my local supermarket). The beer was a very dark brown/black with red highlights when held up to the light. A medium sized head. The aroma was swet roasted malt and coffee. A taste of espresso with a hint of chocolate. Nice and sweet, a little hop bitterness late. A very smooth, enjoyable beer.

Presentation: 12oz brown bottle. Freshness date clearly scored on the side.
Appearance: In the glass ... a solid, pitch black beer in colour. The pour produces a magnificent three finger thick coffee coloured head that is extremely fluffy, foamy, creamy, sticky and lasting.
Smell: Big malty roasted aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, smoke and earth.
Taste: A full-bodied beer with a very smooth, milky/creamy mouthfeel. Malt flavours are quite complex with a mild astringent roasted flavour followed by chocolate, coffee, caramel, smoke, light blackstrap molasses and earth flavours. The soft hop bitterness seems to meld nicely with the roasted unmalted barley astringency, and balances out the malt profile. This is not a "sweet beer," however what is there is in harmony with the other characteristics of this beer and rounds things off nicely. Great slick and sweet coffee-like aftertaste with faint hints of smoke that linger on the palate.
Notes: This is simply an all-around perfect stout in my opinion. Its balance is incredible, and its flavours are well-rounded without any overpowering characteristics. I simply love this beer and could drink it all day long -- winter, spring, summer or fall. It should be classified as a major food group.
Label says "Specialty Stout," however this falls nicely into the sweet stout category, which also includes cream stouts.

an ok beer from sam adams. i think it is too thick. not to say i dont like a good dark beer, but this is a bit too dark for my taste. very creamy and cofeelike not horrable taste, but nothing exceptional either. not bad if nothing else to drink but i would pick up another sam adams beer before this one.

Very small head very grainey intial smell a little cocoa on the 2nd very coffeeish on the third. First taste mocha like with a roasted coffee aftertaste, actually had sort of a thin mouthfeel, just thought there would be a creamier texture, texture even got a little harsh in the middle, settled down ok towards end. The names a little misleading but its a good enouh brew.
