12oz bottle, no date. Pours transparent brownish red with a large sized khaki head. Smells/tastes of roasted malt, caramel, and earthy hops with some faint lactose and dark fruit. Lower intensity. Mild bitterness, light sweetness, and lingering dryness. The sweetness and dryness really contribute to its drinkability. Below average body and above average carbonation for the style. Overall, this felt a little lacking in intensity, body, and depth.

Bottle into snifter. Dark brown color with a nice beige head.
Smell is nice with a little roast and coffee, sweet, dark raisins, little chocolate.
The taste is a combination of roast and chocolate, with a little dark caramel sweetness in the back.
It has a nice medium full body, with not a lot of carbonation.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter glass. 4.9% abv

Appearance- Pours a deep charcoal, with a tan, tall, finely bubbled head.

Smell- Cocoa, milk sugar, grains

Taste- Sweet grainy malt, with a sweet milky flavor. Captures the sugary taste of cold milk. Bits of roasted grains mingle with the milky blend of flavors. Coffee notes build as the milk flavor subsides, turning even more roasty. Finishes bitter and dry, with a sweet creamy finish.

Mouthfeel- Medium in body with medium carbonation.

Overall- A superb milk stout with bold flavors and sharp complexities in the flavor profile. One of the best examples of demonstrating a style on part of Sam Adams. A great milk stout that is among the very top for the milk stout style.

Sam Adams Cream Stout, 4.9% ABV, 35 IBU. Pours thick and black, with a slight tan head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, and lactose, taste follows, with a bit of carbonation burn on the close. Mouthfeel is OK, overall very good.

This stout pours a black color with a slight ruby red tint and a medium foamy light tan head. The smell is roasty and a little bit sweet with toasted grains and chocolate notes. The flavor has roasted grains as the primary element with more mild chocolate, coffee, and cream elements with a bit of sweetness. The finish is pretty smooth and creamy, but I have had many smoother. Stouts of this style are much improved in this regard with nitro taps in my opinion. The body is heavy, but just a little lighter than ideal for a stout. This has some very solid, albeit not overly complex, flavors, but there are also a couple of minor drawbacks to this stout. It’s definitely an above average Sam Adam’s beer though.

A: small and brown foam with high persistency. S. Milk, coffee, caramel. T. Milky taste honoring its name. M. low alcholic feeling, light body. O. a little bit flat in comparsion with other Stouts (Not Imperials, of course), but good beer , nice to be enjoyed after a Carne Asada.
