3.58/5  rDev -9.1%
look: 3.25 | smell: 3.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Poured into bubbled pint glass. Short, dark beige head, leaves just a wisp of lacing (shaped like large bubble wrap).

Smelled malt roast, dark chocolate, faint molasses sweetness.

Roasted tastes: chocolate, malt, bitter swallow followed by a creamy mouth aftertaste and feel.

Pairs well with Mexican chili candy (picagomas).

A little more watery than "cream stout" might usually imply; hold it up to the light, it resembles Newcastle. But heavier than Guiness or Murphy's. Would recommend Nitro Milk Stout from Left Hand for creaminess, but this beer has an overall favorable flavor.

look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 4 | feel: 2.5 | overall: 3.25

Look: Pours dark brown with hints of amber. Slightly transparent when held to light. Definitely not as opaque as I've come to expect from the stouts I drink. Pours a beige head was variable depending on the aggressiveness of the pour. Retains fairly well leaving little to no lacing.

Smell: Chocolate chocolate chocolate. Mild coffee, but I think that's due to expectations rather than reality.

Taste: More nuanced than the smell, thankfully. Nothing too surprising though - coffee, chocolate, vanilla. Nice bitter and burnt character reminiscent of over-roasted coffee.

Feel: Heavily carbonated. Light body. I prefer my stouts creamier and thicker with less carbonation but it's hard to fault it for this because that's simply preference. The mouthfeel is no accident and does not even attempt to straddle the line between styles.

Overall: A fair offering. The flavor is good, but pretty much everything else leaves something to be desired in terms of what I'm looking for in a stout. Comparatively low ABV and price-point makes this a fair everyday choice if I'm in the mood for a stout but nothing I'd savor and agonize over.

L- Deep brown to black opaque
S- Coffee and burnt smells at first from the roasted malt
T- Strong roasted flavor. Also get bitterness from coffee and sweetness from chocolate right after. Then a great aftertaste from the roasty character
F- Full bodied with nice carbonation
O- Everything you want in a stout. Not too sweet at all, a great roasted flavor that goes down great. Honestly might be my favorite stout.

O- a good stout nothing extreme, fits the style well

Pours dark with a tan head. Smells of dark roasty malts with a slight dark fruit sweetness. The taste is light bitter, smoky, roasted coffee and chocolate with a slightly sweet caramel aftertaste. It feels creamy with moderate carbonation. A nice balance is struck between the flavors and depths of a roasty dark stout and the slight sweetness of a milk stout. Creamy, roasty, and bittersweet. Overall a nice sessionable, light, but still full-flavored and heavily roasted, cream stout.

look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

A- Pours very dark brown, big fluffy khaki head-nice and thick, minimal carbonation bubbles.
S- Roasted malts, chocolate, slight coffee, nice mix of sweetness and earthiness.
T- Tastes very similar to the nose. Roasted malts, a slight chocolate/toffee carmel sweetness, a little vanilla in there too, which adds to the creaminess.
M- Smooth and creamy, mild carbonation, medium body, very easy to drink and enjoy.
O- A good brew, not as sweet as expected for a cream stout, but it is definitely creamy. It's a very good example of the style. Clean, smooth, creamy, and flavorfully complex while remaining easily drinkable. I'd recommend this beer anytime you something dark that is a little sweet, velvety smooth, and you want more than one.

Very nice stout in this ABV range. Well balanced. Unsweetened chocolate and mild roasted coffee notes. Very nice light tan creamy head that persist after a medium heavy pour. Easy to drink and refreshing for a cream stout.

Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass. Very dark in color with a 2 finger foamy, cream colored head that dissipated slowly. Leaves a nice lacing while drinking.

Taste is sweet with a nice mouthfeel. I enjoyed this stout very much and could see myself drinking more of these.

L-Very dark beer with a phenomenal large soapy-like light brown head. Beautiful beer.
S-Very sweet smelling. Great smell of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel and coffee.
T-I get a great taste of coffee and chocolate with this stout. It isn't too overpowering, though. It's extremely well balanced and a pleasure to drink. I could drink it for days.
F-Creamy and very lightly carbonated.
O-This is a great milk stout. They have done an amazing job with this beer. I definitely recommend it!

Out of all the beers I try this is one I keep coming back to. My two favorite modes of drinking it are in a pint glass or straight out of the bottle.

Look: Black, although if you tilt a glass of it a bit toward the light you do see a bit of red.

Smell: Roasted malts, chocolate, coffee.

Taste: Definitely get chocolate notes, a bit of caramel, but a lot of roastiness. A bit of sweetness in there too, but a lot of roastiness.

Feel: It's not a thick beer by any means. Could be a bit more creamier in the mouthfeel though.

Overall: This is a beer I look for every time I'm on a beer run. Roasty, chocolatey and delicious

Poured into a 12oz stout glass. Pours dark with a 3 finger brown head. Beer is dark in the glass. Can't see light thru it. Some nice lacing here also. Beer is thick and smooth. The dark malts dominate with a taste of toffee, chocolate, coffee and cream. A semi bitter but sweet beer. This is great for acquiring the tastes of stouts.

This beer hits the glass in a deep brown color in body with a good dose of red hues in the light. In the glass, the beer looks pretty good, with a thick and dense head that is tan in color. Big sweet scents of chocolate and light coffee hit the nose first and give a sweet overall impression. At the end of the smell there is a balancing act brought forward by some lightly bitter burnt malts.

When the beer hits the tongue, there is a miniature explosion of bitter burnt malts followed by a light, lactose sweetness. There is not nearly the sweetness in the taste that is found in the scent. However, there is a touch of chocolate malt flavor at the very end. The alcohol level is undetectable in this beer and it drinks very smooth and fairly light in body weight.

Overall, this is just a solid, everyday stout. It has a good sweet scent that is offset by a very dry and somewhat bitter flavor. To me, this tastes almost more like an Irish dry stout than a cream stout.

12 oz bottle with a BB date of 7-2015; the ABV is listed as 4.9%.

Pours black with a large, creamy and frothy tan head. Good sticky lacing gets left on the glass.

Flavor: very well balanced, including the bitter-sweet dimension. Slightly sweet up front with plenty of dark roasted malts and only hints of smoke.

Appealing aroma with a hint of sweet chocolate.

Smooth and full body with spot on carbonation.

O: even without considering cost this is a winner among sweet stouts.

12oz bottle, a random selection for a mixed-sixer at one of the plentiful grocery stores in Sandpoint, Idaho.

This beer pours a very dark, almost black brownish hue, with pervasive reddish tints, and a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and fairly creamy tan head, which leaves some pleasantly tiered, bleeding paint job lace around the glass as it very slowly recedes.

It smells of roasted, lightly meaty caramel malt, bittersweet chocolate, creamed coffee, a twinge of dried vanilla pod, and an earthy, musty, and kind of ashy hoppiness. The taste is semi-sweet, toasted caramel malt, dry-roasted coffee beans, stale, wafer-like chocolate, a slightly sour milkiness, a whiff of smoking ashes, and soft herbal, earthy, and musty hops.

The bubbles are fairly low-key in their plainly innocuous frothiness, the body a sturdy enough medium weight, and well smooth, with a hard to deny creaminess. It finishes off-dry, the cocoa, coffee, caramel, and cream all lazing about, thinking about tomorrow.

A well-made milk stout, the various flavours being drawn out of the roasted malts all a good thing. Big, but not too big, obviously, and the lower ABV speaks to some sensible winter-time supping, y'know, if that's your thing.

Very good cream stout. I found this while I was looking for Left Handed Brewing Milk Stout (Colorado)
Good smell and feel. The was was ok..I was thinking it be more like the Milk Stout. We now have LHB in Massachusetts so I would definitely go with that.

Poured from a bottle into a nonic pint glass
L: Dark, almost black with hints of ruby red on the edges of the glass, pale beige head forms that lasts until the very end. Head starts fluffy like clouds and condenses. Excellent lacing
S: Predominantly sweet. Some notes of chocolate, maybe hints of coffee but primarily what comes to mind is sweet chocolate. Probably weakest aspect of this beer.
T: Phenomenal. Definitely deserves a 5 in this regard. Incredibly easy drinking, excellent chocolate flavor without being too robust or astringent. Sweet creme flavors as well. Stays true to the sweet stout style.
F: Silky, smooth, just a great drinking experience
O: Such an excellent beer. Being from Mass I take these guys for granted, but damn they can brew. Highly enjoyed this one, will add it into my rotation of go-to beers.

Pours a black body with a kinda light mocha head. The smell, while kinda faint, is primarily coffee and roasted malt with a tad bit of chocolate. The flavor has a good ratio between roasted malt/coffee flavor with a tad bit of chocolate, but it also has that sweetness from whatever sort of additive they use to make it a "cream stout". Overall a very tasty, easy to drink beer from Sam Adams. I wish some of the other Samuel Adams beers were held to these standards.

One of my favourite beers. When its in stock. Drank it this winter till it disappeared, finally found a liqour store in b.f.e that had it, Score!
Pours a dark brown with a nice off brown/cream head. Smells of sweet cream, chocolate and malt. Tastes like heaven. Alil roasted flavor at first then the sweetness comes in with a little bitterness at the end, not strong tho. So smooth sometimes I cant get enough. Good stuff brother. Cheers

Poured from 12 oz. bottle to pint glass.

A: Pitch black, with some amber hues showing at the bottom of the glass, rocky 1 and 1/2 in. brown head lingers.
S: Smells like a mocha. Big aromas of coffee, chocolate, and caramel.
T: Charred, roasted malt play a big role in the taste. A little bit of coffee and chocolate peek through. A little sour on the finish.
M: Medium. Nice and creamy.
O: I liked this beer quite a bit. Nice and smooth, with big roasted flavors.
