Can to snifter. Darker gigs expected, copper and clear. Smell is light citrus and sweet malt. Taste is a malt bomb, but earthy bitter hops come over the top to balance. The bitter lingers slightly. Wow is this malty but well balanced. Feel is solid, nice carb, ABV not present. Overall this is certainly a different beast from normal Rebel. I think I prefer the badinage rebel due to the lighter malt, but this one is fun

O- Nice beer. Solid notes of pine and citrus. Classic example of the cascade hop.

A: This poured a clear copper with moderate light tan head.
S: It smelled like faint citrus zest and sweet earthy malt.
T: It tasted like bitter citrus zest and sweet caramel malt, with some earthy resin. It had a clean and bittersweet aftertaste.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Nice full body.
D: This was a below average IPA with very basic scent and taste that weren't super appealing. The body was solid but the finish was a little harsh, so it was not the easiest to drink. Not many redeeming qualities in this brew. Nothing like the grapefruit variant. Not recommended.

Pours yellow, a little bit of haze, perhaps for once they dry hopped a pale ale. White head in the 1/3" range, not bad for an ipa, they good at making a decent looking beer. Aroma hit a generic cascade note, I could smell it, but it wasn't in such a large way that it made me still wonder whether there was dry hopping or not. I know Cascade is hardly an aroma hop, but it is a plentiful one, so there should be no excuse not at least going all in on it.
The taste reveals more of what Cascade's schtick is. A bittering hop makes for a bitter beer. Not bad bitter, but you know, most Sam Adams peeps aren't gonna be prepared for this 60ibu territory probably. I think its a decent grocery store banger, they are getting better at these. Oh yeah, the toasted pale malt is a little bit straddling with some caramel, but still is worthy and not too heavy or syrupy. Not too bad when you think about it being just over a dollar a can.

Pours a hazy copper with an off white white head leaning towards cream.
Smells of resinous pine and citrus backed by floral hops.
Resinous pine and bitter citrus round in a thick sticky mouth feel. It has a whole grain bread malt middle and finishes dry and a little woody.

Pretty decent Cascade aroma and flavor but the mouthfeel is far too prickly. As the beer warmed it got a little better. I've had plenty of beers that would have scored higher overall except they were too flat, but this is one of only a few I've had with the opposite problem.

Dark copper look.......3 finger head that stays into a half finger head for the most part as you quaff.....lacing is medium. Not much apparent carbonation... much like a bitter you get in British pubs.....love that. Flavor is like I said.....little carbonation... very much like a pulled bitter from a pub in Great Britain. Perfect hops blend for my tastes. Another winner for the Boston Beer Company.
