Poured from 12 oz bottle into pilsner glass. Poured a clear dark coffee color with milky head. Malty sweetness with a hint of cocoa on the nose. Malt, caramel, with a touch of coffee and cocoa in the taste. Not heavy and a good sipping beer.

Samuel Adams Boston Lager, but a bit darker in flavour and colour. Nothing special, but doesn't ruin anything in my book.

12 oz. bottle poured into a stemmed glass.

Appearance: Pours a clear cola color with a thin crown of milky lace. Held to the light, it appears red or garnet.

Aroma: Slightly herbal and grassy. Some cocoa deep in the background. Some malt sweetness.

Taste: A little more cocoa on the palate. Malt, caramel, some weak coffee. Grassiness. Slightly earthy note. Bit of chocolate. Dark bread.

Mouthfeel: Has some body, but not heavy. A decent slow sipper even at low ABV.

Overall: Decent dark lager. Not a standard bearer for the style, but a good effort.

Treated as a schwarzbier, this was poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a slight dark brown color close to black with a finger's worth of white foamy head that dissipated at a fair pace. Some messy lace ran here and there.
The aroma had some German yeasty/breadiness with a touch of dark chocolate and a whiff of a blended earthy to grassy contour.
The flavor was a bit rugged as it had a super dried dark cocoa powder flowing into some dark bread and bringing in a fair dark bready aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate. Finish was pretty rugged and dry.
Overall, not sure what to truly make of this one - a dry Schwarzbier or one of those Euro Dark Lagers. Maybe some sort of transitional beer from Summer to Autumn.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

A: Pours dark brown with a tan colored head, no retention or lacing.

A: Dark roasted malts, cocoa nibs, roasted coffee, roasted malts, touch of light char and smoke.

T: Dark notes up front, roasted malts, dark coffee, cocoa nibs, moderate amount of coffee like bitterness in the middle, finish has notes of toasted bread, lots going on, well done.

M: Medium bodied with a good amount of carbonation, slightly dry finish.

O: Another solid beer from the Beers of Fall variety pack, hits lots of notes I like in a dark beer, roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, slight nutty note, pretty drinkable.
