Appearance: Very clear deep gold, very short-lasting thin near-white head, very sparse lacing

Aroma: So far so good. Not so much nose: Faint aroma of malts and perhaps some spices, not so bad

Taste/Flavor: This is where things went down hill. I found the flavor to be harsh, a weird spiciness not to my liking. Perhaps I do not like ginger? Or lemongrass?

Mouthfeel: Thin body, tingly carbonation, unusual harsh spicy finish. I found this to be an unpleasant tasting experience

Overall: I hate to be so negative, but overall, I did not like this beer. I poured the last half of the bottle down the sink. I do not fault the brewer, nor his recipe. It may well be me. I am beginning to suspect that ginger beer is an acquired taste that I have not yet acquired. Sorry.

Appearance - Pours crystal clear and golden yellow with a slightly off-white, finger width head. Great retention, eventually settling to a thick sheet of suds across the surface of the brew.

Smell - Ginger is evident, along with toasted bread, and a slight lemony character. Spice notes, think cinnamon and clove, find their way on the nose as well.

Taste - Toasted bread is the prominent flavor here. Lesser ginger and spice. A touch of lemony character hits mid-taste and flows into the finish. Subtle caramel. Aftertaste lingers with that malty sweetness and a light, lemony brightness that also comes with a hint of citrus pith bitterness.

Mouthfeel - Light-to-medium in body with moderate carbonation. Easy drinker Slick texture turns slightly chalky and with a semi-dry finish.

Overall - Sam Adams has a lot of misses on their experimental seasonals... this one is a hit! An overwhelming ginger flavor would have made this a difficult drink. The solid, toasty malt backbone is perfect for the secondary flavors of ginger spice and lemony notes to play off. The result is a highly drinkable, interestingly flavored brew. Cheers, Sam, you got a good one here!

Pours a golden yellow with decent head and lacing. Smells of ginger, lemon zest, and mild hops. Taste is a little too ginger to me, I would have wanted a little more balance of biscuit and malt with the ginger, seems too heavy on ginger and lacking on other flavors. Overall its ok, better than other beers but nothing I would run out to get again.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear golden color with a small white head. The aroma is mostly malt with some spices. The taste has a slight ginger flavor. An average beer.

Pours aneffervescent gold with a pinky of beige head. Average head retention & lacing

S: Ginger in spades, not much else

T: Follows the nose a little breadyness, up front. Ginger, a little citrus & breadyness as this warms. Fiinishes with ginger & a little grainyness

MF: Medium body, smooth carbonation, thins out as it warms

Drinks alright, expected a little more body & flavor. Its a take it or leave it beer to me

Samuel Adams Ginger Beer brewed by Boston Beer Company, with an ABV of 6.00% This Spiced brew pours out a deep golden amber color with a small white head. The head to this brew goes away fast, there is also some nice spotty lacing, to this brew. The smell is rich with ginger, and other spices. You also pick up on some nice sweet grains and malts in the smell. Hops are present in the smell but faint. This is a nice inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is bold and spicy with flavors. You first pick up on the zesty ginger spices then the smooth grains and malts. I like how the spices hit the tongue. The body of Ginger Beer is a soild medium. There is nothing overpowering about this brew, it has a real nice balance to it. It is hard to pick up on the 6.00% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. If you are not a fan of Spicy brews then, this would not be a brew for you. The spices add a nice touch to this brew. The mouth feel is Spicy, Ginger, Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Samuel Adams Ginger Beer a 4.25 out of 5. I would look this brew up again givin the chance to. Boston Beer Company (Samuel Adams), did a super nice job with this spice brew.

A: Crystal clear gold with a finger of head that dissipates rather quickly, leaving light lacing.

S: Bready malt, bright, grassy hops with obvious ginger notes.

T: The malt is cracker-like, white bread predominates. No off flavors. Hops blend seamlessly with the ginger, which is the dominating flavor, as expected. Not much more here.

F: Thin, soda-like with a carbonation burn. Goes down easy.

O: Refreshing. Not a great deal of complexity here, but it tastes pretty good and it's a good change of pace from heavier, herb and spice winter beers. Can't go wrong with this. Your less beer-inclined friends will probably like this as a primer for more interesting brews.

To good health and good beer.
