Nice (re) addition to the Winter Classics pack. Not as flavorful as some other Oatmeal Stouts, but very drinkable.

Very nice looking black beer with just a slight touch of ruby at the edge with a finger and a half of soft foamy tan head. Very nice glass lacing.

Chocololate and roasted malts on the nose with just a hint of stone fruit in the background.

Flavor seemed a bit muted. Chocolate, stone fruits and roasted malts all on the lighter side. Not a big flavor punch of any one thing. Taste profile seems a bit thin.

Mouth feel seems to lean towards medium with a thin drink feel and a dry finish.

Overall not a bad beer but a bit of a dissapointment. With an oatmeal stout I expect more of a thicker mouth feel with that creamy sweet presence. This beer seems to be lacking a lot of that oatmeal stout profile. With all that out of the way the beer is still a decent stout that seems like a very easy drinking beer. Good for drinking a few while visiting family and friends over the holidays.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a deep dark brown color, with a thin beige head that fades slowly and leaves a thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, molasses and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready and smoky with a hearty roasted malt character, a big smokiness and toasted oats up front. Then some mildly sweet flavors of chocolate, coffee, molasses and dark fruit come in. The hops presence is mild but complementary and brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet as the smokiness fades into the finish.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, mild kick, very good representation of style, this is a solid beer to drink for a long time if you’re in the mood for the style.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 4/2018. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, molasses, smoke, char, dark fruits, herbal, wood, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of nuttiness, molasses, smoke, char, dark fruits, herbal, wood, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, nuttiness, light smoke/dark fruit, herbal, wood, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Mildly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a very nice Oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich feeling for the ABV. Very well rounded malt complexity, with mild complementing English yeast character and balancing English hops. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Dark brown black color with tan cap.

Aroma of roasted malt with a caramel undertone.

Taste of dark, roasted malt on entry with an underlying caramel sweetness yet the brew finishes somewhat dry. These are the flavors I can identify though I expect hops are present. Bitterness remains at a low level until the aftertaste where it asserts itself a bit yet it seems to be more a dark chocolate bitterness rather than something like roasted malt or coffee.

Medium texture with balancing carbonation.

My son says it has a better finish than Guinness and he would know. He also agrees with me about the sweetness part. Is this a Stout for the masses? Not really, I doubt the masses will ever much cotton to Stouts but this does seem to be a brew designed for broad appeal rather than Stout fans.

Overcooked pancakes. Makes it sound not so great, but it's pretty decent overall.

4/28/18....pours dark brown, almost black, with touches of off white foam scattered on top. Oaty milk chocolate nose. Vanillas too. Creamy mouthfeel. Like a chocolate milk shake. Oats poke through at the end. Balances out nicely. Not a bad take on the style/.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of April 2018. Sampled on November 22, 2017. I know I had this years ago but I was not on Beer Advocate at that time.

It pours a handsome looking dark brown with maroon red hues underneath a long lasting foamy mocha head that leaves lacing as it fades.

I most definitely pick up a cooked oatmeal sensation on the nose along with a roasted dark malt character an a subdued but present earthy hop character.

The body is light to medium and if I had any flaws to state - it would be that I wanted a heavier body.

The taste brings out a dark roasted malt sweetness and an oatmeal mash flavor. A boisterous finish that is not necessarily bitter or dry but it has a bit of that. I don't know. I think it is consistent with the style.

Black color. White head, not too thick but probably the thickest of all their Winter Classic beers. Slight chocolate aroma. Full-bodied stout with a lacey feel to it. Not a whole lot of flavor, though, a bit disappointing in that department.

Not having too many oatmeal stouts, I really had nothing to compare this to however, I did enjoy it.

Poured a dark, almost transparent brown with a very thin head that dissipated quickly. Thinner mouthfeel that I had anticipated. Taste was good, but not great. Would no go out of my way to seek out, but wouldn't turn it down, if offered.
