Hazy & Juicy
The slight sweetness is perfectly balanced by the pineapple and grapefruit hop character, without being overly bitter. Clocking in at 6.8% ABV and a low 35 IBUs, the unfiltered IPA provides a burst of fruited hop aroma and leaves drinkers wanting another sip. In comparison to West Coast style IPAs which have prominent hop bitterness and a light, dry mouthfeel, New England IPA’s are generally known for a juicy, luscious mouthfeel and opaque, hazy appearance - and are best enjoyed fresh.
MALT VARIETIES:
Samuel Adams two-row pale malt blend, white wheat, golden naked oats
HOP VARIETIES:
Galaxy, Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, Cascade

Curious about how many states received this in distro. I live in Chicago, where there are numerous local breweries who have an NEIPA, along with the regionals in Mich, Wisc., and Indiana. (I've been to Boston recently and had several of the OGs, FWIW). I'm kind of surprised BBC-SA went with this batch. It isn't bad, but not close to the best representations of the style -- it not being a style they innovated yet something of a regional birthright and being one of the forces that made this sort of thing possible on a national scale. The haze and taste leave a lot to be desired (for the style), but in a taste test with Aloha Sculpin or Juicy Haze Ranger I'd say it runs with the pack.

A dull golden colored brew with a generous just off-white notable head. How is this known? A 12 oz. can has been emptied into a clear pint glass. There seems to be a good hop/malt/yeast balance, at least according to the nose. Not as notable is the glass lacing. The taste is unspectacular and inoffensive. This is probably the safe route for a company that mass produces craft beers. The body is OK, but nothing to rave about. The hops are sufficiently subdued, so there's little bitterness. That aspect is most pronounced at the finish, when even mild NEIPAs allow for some hoppiness to shine. Of course, it's better than any mass produced commercial American lager. Unfortunately, it tastes like a mass produced American NEIPA.

Had a large draft serving at the MHT Sam Adams Meeting House on the morning of 9-19-20 for $9.79.
Beer was served a hazy golden orange with a very nice white head.
Nose had hints of citrus and tropical fruit.
Taste was really well balanced with a nice hop addition of orange, papaya and mango over a moderate malt base. Finished with minimal bitterness; 5/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel was medium bodied and fairly refreshing.
Overall a surprisingly nice NEIPA from a company that vowed never to brew IPA's!

This style seems to have taken over recently. It is a very cloudy, hazy, dark-orange color. The head is huge and lasting...off-white with great lace. The aroma is a bit fruity....grapefruit and melon. The taste is a bit spicy with hops, with continued fruit. Medium body.

Look: It pours hazy-yellow orange with a white head. Head retention is excellent.
Smell: It has a sweet aroma with some pineapple. There is some grainy sweetness behind it.
Taste: It has some tropical flavors with pineapple and grainy sweetness. There is some grainy sweetness with a bit of bread.
Feel: It has a creamy texture and mild bitterness.
Overall: The tropical fruit flavors are present throughout the taste with a smooth body.
