This beer pours a pale amber with a solid head. The aroma features notes of light roast coffee, milk chocolate, graham crackers, a hint of smoke, really there is a strong s'more like quality, even down to a hint of singed marshmallow. The flavor is mild and gentle, starting with bright, light coffee roast up front, followed by creamy milk chocolate, vanilla, graham cracker, toast, and a hint of grassy hops. The mouthfeel is very light bodied, with mellow, foaming carbonation. Overall this was a really cool beer - I'll admit I was a bit late in getting to it, so I may be missing something from when it was absolutely fresh, but it says best by February, so it should still have some time. Neither the pale ale nor coffee qualities star here, but rather the creamy chocolate quality and graham cracker-like malts. Rebrand it as a s'mores amber ale and I would totally believe it.

Brownish color with minimal lacing. Smells of coffee and tastes of coffee and roasted malts and some caramel and chocolate. Its almost like drinking a tootsie roll sucker if it was coffee flavored

First taste is delightfully coffee flavored, without a hint of hops or anything resembling beer. It has a sweet aftertaste. As I try to avoid guzzling it (being thirsty and shoulda had some water first), I can taste the tiniest hint of something beer-like under the coffee. This seems to be the pale ale that’s nothing like pale ale, and thus guzzleable. After finishing, I think it’s a nice choice of coffee that’ll get you drunk, not so nice if you’re looking to taste something resembling beer. As coffee with an ABV, it’s pretty good, and I’m rating it with that in mind. 2018/08/23

12oz bottle into perfect pint
Bb 1/2019
Pours a clear light brown with an off-white head
Predominant coffee, cream, floral hoppy notes
Coffee with caramel cream, followed by floral pine notes
Light bodied,  easy drinking
Overall a unique crossover beer that is quite quaffable

Quite a most interesting pale ale with coffee flavor...

If you like coffee, you will like this beer, if you love coffee, you will love this beer. The coloration was something I found to be unique, it had this appealing brownish/caramelish color with a decent top of foam. I really enjoyed the smell as it wasn't the normal, overpowering scent of coffee, probably the best scented coffee ale I've had. Mouthfeel is a muted feel of carbonation but still smooth and then we get to the taste. The thing that gets me with this beer is how polar opposite the taste of coffee is compared to the smell. The smell is light and just right, but the taste is full-bodied, full-in-your-face-black-coffee-type taste. And unfortunately, I'm just not much of a black coffee drinker, so this doesn't really appeal to me, but I can see where others would guzzle this stuff. Overall, this is a good coffee ale and one worth one's time of giving it a shot.

DATE: October 25, 2018... OCCASION: early night due to the dark means earlier Thirsty Thursday... GLASSWARE: Stoudts pint... pours a nice medium brown amber body, alive with bubbles that craft a half-finger off-white head equal parts cream and suds... its lacing is is modest but appropriate... roasted coffee is palpable, with light caramel, lactic sugars, wet vegetable, and hints of lemon and tea... the mouthfeel is standard brown ale with a smooth movement to its throat.... its graininess is understated, yet pleasant enough... the flavor profile is soft on coffee, light on citrus, and mild on roasted malts... sweet, slightly dank, and agreeable to an extent... medium-bodied but lacking in creaminess or intensity, though this works as a sessionable ale with enough flavor to be engaging... would I buy as a six-pack stand-alone? probably not...but as a mix case contributor, this will work...

Samuel Adams Coffee Pale Ale has a medium, ivory head, a clear, somewhat bubbly, tan appearance, and minimal glass lacing. Aroma is of gourmet coffee and a touch of fruit. Taste is of medium-roast coffee, some cream, fruit, and pale malt. There is a hint of bitterness. Mouthfeel is light, and Coffee Pale Ale finishes medium wet/dry.

12 oz bottle in Florida.
Pours with a hazy copper colored body and a very durable beige head.
This is just as one should expect: a mix of modestly hoppy pale ale with a near equal strength coffee.
The blend is not perfectly harmonious, nor are the coffee flavors optimal. Nonetheless, this is a solid, recommended coffee ale.

A: Pours a reddish brown color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap

S: Lots of coffee up front along with some bready malt and caramel

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the coffee and a bit of light roast. Caramel and bready malt come in afterwards. Finishes with lingering coffee

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A nice coffee-based pale ale that is very coffee forward. Easy to drink. Solid part of the fall pack

This one is a nice amber color with an off-white head. Head sticks around for a while before fading and leaving nice lacing behind. The smell is heavy on the coffee. There is also the aroma of bready malt, but definitely coffee dominates the smell. Taste is heavy coffee, but with a sweet, cream flavor present...not overly bitter. Some light hop presence in the end, but it's muted. The body seemed light to me. Overall, I was curious to see what Sam Adams would do with this one. I was surprised at how much coffee taste there was as Sam tends to be more muted with some of their flavors. Not a bad beer, all in all.
