2/24/19...faint musty brown, toying between amber and full brown. Foam fizzes and drops down. Malty nose w/ a coffee vagueness. Taste opens like a blond/light roasted coffee. Hops and ale maltiness fleck in the background. Doesn't distance too much from a pale.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass. Decent head, amber body. Coffee aroma. The taste of coffee is there on the first sip, subtle and much better than expected. Mild, not overpowering the ale flavors. I didn't think I would like this but in fact I did.

This beer pours a pale amber with a solid head. The aroma features notes of light roast coffee, milk chocolate, graham crackers, a hint of smoke, really there is a strong s'more like quality, even down to a hint of singed marshmallow. The flavor is mild and gentle, starting with bright, light coffee roast up front, followed by creamy milk chocolate, vanilla, graham cracker, toast, and a hint of grassy hops. The mouthfeel is very light bodied, with mellow, foaming carbonation. Overall this was a really cool beer - I'll admit I was a bit late in getting to it, so I may be missing something from when it was absolutely fresh, but it says best by February, so it should still have some time. Neither the pale ale nor coffee qualities star here, but rather the creamy chocolate quality and graham cracker-like malts. Rebrand it as a s'mores amber ale and I would totally believe it.

Brownish color with minimal lacing. Smells of coffee and tastes of coffee and roasted malts and some caramel and chocolate. Its almost like drinking a tootsie roll sucker if it was coffee flavored

First taste is delightfully coffee flavored, without a hint of hops or anything resembling beer. It has a sweet aftertaste. As I try to avoid guzzling it (being thirsty and shoulda had some water first), I can taste the tiniest hint of something beer-like under the coffee. This seems to be the pale ale that’s nothing like pale ale, and thus guzzleable. After finishing, I think it’s a nice choice of coffee that’ll get you drunk, not so nice if you’re looking to taste something resembling beer. As coffee with an ABV, it’s pretty good, and I’m rating it with that in mind. 2018/08/23

The sweet caramel, coffee under tones give this a very different lager taste. This adds to the crispness and keeps it interesting. One of the more interesting brews from Sam Adams, they keep coming out with little surprises like this and it is nice.
