Poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass, clear, golden color with a 1 finger head and lots of bubbles. Head dissipates quickly. Nose is similar to a Summer wheat beer. Tastes like it smells with almost no spruce flavor. Seems more like a Summer beer than a Fall offering. Good, but not great. Nothing really stands out. Would not turn it down if offered again, but pribably would not seek it out.

Really like this beer. Pours orangish golden hue. Small to medium head. Smells piney. Tastes of pine and like semi fruity. Crisp and refreshing and goes down pretty smooth.

I’m not sure how I feel about beer full of pine needles. Thus far, the taste is mild, very slightly bitter. I’m trying to figure out if I can taste the spruce tips, or if it’s my imagination. Overall, there’s nothing really interesting in terms of subtle or complex taste. If it had a bit more bite, my rating would go up. 2018/08/26

DATE: November 18, 2018... OCCASION: tough to follow up last night's Brew Fest at Tom's, so I won't try--instead, I will try this new brew... GLASSWARE: Sam Adams lager... this one wows out the bottle with a fire storm of swirling bubbles, giving rise to a two-finger head of snow-white fluff... its body is light orange, almost brassy.... aroma of hedge, branch, copper pipe, and a bit of caramel... rather thin and flat, despite its lively appearance... a bit bubbly at the throat, with a token shake at the teeth... sips at a deprecating rate, without much to chew on, soak in or consider.... I am struggling to put this is any light: its spiciness is soft, apologetic; its "spruce" really doesn't approach detectable levels, and its malts don't bring that trademark Boston Lager caramel--its sweetness is nominal... in fact, this borderlines on a rinser, which shocks me, as I am talking about talking about THE Sam Adams... kinda disappointing, but only two of these in the mix box means this one won't be long to be gone...

Pours a light fizzy head that fades semi quickly, a touch of lacing, clear blond golden tan color

NOse a bit of sweet syrupy lager notes, Euro lager like, sweet cereal grains and malt soup, with some mild spruce flaming pine and almost musty body odor thing that is a little gross, very unpleasant

Taste sweet syrupy cereal grain malts, more Euro macro lager soup thing, then mild spruce tips but also soil earth, like actual dirt was put in the beer, burnt pine thing, and plant matter, again super unpleasant.

Mouth is med bod but almost syrupy somehow, not much soft lager either

Overall this must be the worst beer I've every had from Sam Adams (not including the 98 Triple Bock), and that's saying a lot, super unpleasant and undrinkable

A: Amber gold in color with a light white head.

S: Lager aromas with a hint of straw and some light herbal aroma. Not getting a lot of the spruce.

T: Refreshing pilsner with herbal, and pine flavor. Interesting, crisp and refreshing.

M: Medium in feel with moderate carbonation.

O: Overall a pretty interesting beer.

If there is something this brewer can do it is the release of some quality lagers, like this one.

Out of the bottle it pours a very clear, amber-colored beer with orange highlights. The white foam that forms appears thick and formidable, and there's no lacing. The smell is a muted pine, not that in-your-face, disgusting Pinesol scent, which is a huge plus in my book. I found the mouthfeel to be well-carbonated yet still with an appealing crispness that overcomes the initial strong tingle. The taste was piney, but again, not the strong flavor of pine that I do not at all fine keen. Overall, this is really the best pine-flavored beer I've had. I'm glad I have a few more to go through.

Served in a pint glass from the bottle.

Appearance: Darker golden transparent brew with medium to heavy bubbles and subtle head coming off a white head. Settles right after one sip.

Smell: Light hops scent with a lemon grass hitting the nostrils.

Taste: Mixed bitter consisting of bread and pine trees.

Mouth: Light to medium carbonation, barely sticky. Refreshing citrus like after taste

Overall: descent brew, definitely built more for the summer. Definitely would try again just to pass the time and perfect to bridge people into IPAs. Salud.

Pours a golden amber color with zero head, looks weak. Aroma is buttery malts, very similar to Boston Lager. Taste is nearly identical as well, but it has a much better finish with a little hint of pine resin.

It’s not a bad beer by any means, but it’s too similar to Boston Lager to really justify its existence in the fall pack.

Spruce Lager has a thick, soapy, ivory head, a clear, bubbly, amber appearance, and moderate glass lacing. Aroma is of white bread crust, and the flavor is the same, with, possibly, a wisp of conifer oil. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Spruce Lager finishes medium dry.
