Did not know SA had this many 'different' pumpkin beers. This was from September 2018.
Pours a dark amber color, 1/4" off white head. Smells of pumpkin and pumpkin spice rack, nutmeg mostly.
Taste is like a mild pumpkin marzen. There is the usual mix of caramel, nuttiness and fall sensations in the taste department on this one. Carbonation seems a tad high. You can always wait it out though, I'll take high carbonation over low because you can 'fix' it. Body is tame as it should be, isn't light, but isn't excessive viscosity either. Spice rack isn't too overdone. Its easy to say Sam Adams is middle of the road pedestrian stuff, but that isn't always a pejorative. In fact, it rarely is in my book. There are no off flavors here as usual.
Sure, pumpkin ain't my jam and SA rarely scratches my itch for much of anything beyond some cheap variety 12ers when I know I'm gonna be entertaining drinking palates of all types. But there is nothing wrong with this beer. Comes in as advertised.

12 oz bottle of "Pumpkin Ale": shortened name but same 5.7% ABV. BB date notched March 2019 served in October 2018.
Pours with a good looking dark copper body and a white head.
This is a good version of a pumpkin spice ale, with moderate spicing, a clean malty base and a smooth body.

golden color lacing to small head. Traditional pumpkin beer with nutmeg and cinnamon spices in this beer. No bells and whistles but just a good fall beer to drink at thanksgiving dinner

I don’t know about you, but late summer is still a bit early for the pumpkin spice thing. I’m biased against it at the moment, desiring something a bit more Summer Shandyey after a long day at work, prepping equipment at the Circus Maximus for the season opener gladiatorial jousts. Gotta think neutral. The roasted, malty flavor advertised on the label is certainly present, and not bad.The pumpkin spice flavor appears in the aftertaste. There are worse ways to have a beer after work, but I don’t think I’ll seek this one out. 2018/08/30
