look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Eye: Pours with a nice head that quickly somewhat fades to a thin sheet over the beer...leaves some lace hanging around. Color is a nice crystal clear copper/deep orange. Overall this is a pretty good looking beer.

Nose: Big on the spices this one. Cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg make up the bouquet of this beer. It smells like a pumpkin ale should, not too overpowering with the spices and quite nice. I've had better but this one is a good one, just there in the middle between the best and the worst. Aroma could be a little less on the spice and a bit smoother but this is still good, especially at the price.

Tongue: Easy drinking beer. Spices hit upfront and then mellow out and come back to linger a bit in the finish. Finish is dry. Malt sweetness supports the spices and rounds it out nicely. Other pumpkin ales are balanced better-Schlafly, Smuttynose- but this one works well. It is a bit to "rough around the edges" to be comparable to those two, but it is still a very nice beer. It could be smoother overall as far as the flavor profile goes and the way that everything works together, but it still is a nice pumpkin ale. Body is medium with carbonation that is lower that I'd have expected but it is right for this beer. I really have no complaints about this one. It is on for the style and I can't say that I'd refuse or not recommend this to someone.

Drinkability: This is one I'd drink again. It is not as good as some of the others that you can find-Schlafly esp.- but for what it is I'm definitely happy with this beer. It is definitely worth a try. The price is right on it and the availability is great too. Usually not a big Sam Adams guy, but this one works for me.

picked up a 12 pack because I love pumpkin beer

I usually stay away from the Sammy's because a lot of them taste the same to me

the color on this is cool like a dark reddish root beer

has some good lacing and nice carbonation

nice nutmeg cinnamon finish with some wheat-ness

doesn't have a metallic taste like some pumpkin beers do I liked this better then the
smutty nose little thicker and darker

it doesn't over do the spices like some of the pumpkin beers do

I could drink this one all winter/fall

so long shipyard pumpkin head

if you like pumpkin beer or Sam overall get some you won't be dissappointed
