Poured a one inch custard head which faded after a minute. The body is a hazy raw sienna yellow color. Smell is surprisingly rich with malt for the style, and I don't get any of the citrus. But then the taste reverses with lemon up front and just a mild aftertaste of malt. It's mildly sweet and has a slight acidic zing. Quite frankly it was better than I was expecting.

Appearance - Pours a hazy yellow color with a centimeter thick head that dissipates quickly.

Smell - Lemon zest, clove, and peppercorns. Smells pretty spicy..

Taste - Lemon zest, peppercorns, clove, citrus, and wheat. Not much bitterness at all.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with high carbonation.

Overall - Not a bad taste but a little spicier than I enjoy.

Served out of a 12oz and into an American Pint Glass.
Appearance- Yellow, medium carbonation, frothy head, some lacing.
Smell-notes of lemon, yeast.
Taste-bread tasting yeast followed by tart lemon.
Mouthfeel-no acidity , `yeast does linger in the mouth however.
Overall-Not Impressed, the lemon notes are overwhelming and do not work well with this beer.

Drink by: May 2012; Poured in a weizen glass.

A - Over two inches of white, creamy head that lasts for a little while; Slightly hazy pale golden color with some visible carbonation; No lacing to be had

S - Spicy, bready, yeasty aroma with a generous amount of lemon in addition; The type of lemon smell reminds me of lemon scented Pledge; An overall syrupy smell is present as well

T - Very close to the nose; I get the same spicy, bready, yeasty characteristics with even more lemon present here; Aftertaste is long-lasting for sure and a little chemical-like

M - Low to moderate carbonation; Light bodied; Semi-dry finish; Somewhat thin and watery in the mouth and a bit sticky at the back end of the taste

O - Overall, I was a little disappointed with this beer. While I thought the taste and lemon highlights were decent, the aftertaste and mouthfeel brought the entire beer down. I have had this beer before and don't remember it being as thin and watery as it was this time. I might give this beer another chance in the future, but there are much better Sam Adams offerings to be had in the meantime.

Poured very light gold, with visible carbonation but a small head and no lacing to speak of. The smell is pretty non-existent and could use more power, but I actually quite liked the taste--it's not very strong as far as wheat goes, but the lemon is obviously natural, it blends nicely with the wheat and there is some exciting spice which I believe they've added to the brew. Hops are earthy and offer a good contrast to the lemon. I was surprised by how winter-y it felt once I was drinking it--a spicy muted summer, exactly what I want when there's a blizzard outside.

Had this beer as part of a mix pack. Poured from bottle into a tall glass. Served cool.

Clear body and a white head. Grainy, minty smell. Tastes like Juicy fruit gum. Not much beyond that. Too sweet to be refreshing enough. Not very crisp. Light body.

I am not a fan of this beer. Way to sweet and chewing gum flavor really throws me off.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle from a case of 6 mixed beers into a Bell's pint glass.

The beer is a slightly hazy pale bright yellow with a 1 finger snow white head that calms down to just leave just a whisp of white atop the brew fairly quickly. The lacing is small bubbled and sluggish, in that it sliiidddes down the glass as the beer is drunkand.

The aroma is pale malts, wheat, and a touch of lemon background.

The flavor follows the nose with the lemon rind and/or citrusy flavoring hops more prominant and keeping the sweet malts in check, making for a well balanced flavor. .

This has pretty low bitterness (which would be a negative per style), a medium- mouthfeel, nicely carbed (still has tee tiny bubbles rising 80% through the pint).

This is an easy drinker with nice citrus notes that I could consume several of and not be put off by. But as far as style goes, I think it falls short with the wheat grain bill being to low as well as the bitterness.

Didnt feel like driving all the way to the beer store, so I stopped at the local liquor store and grabbed a Sam Adams wheat beer. I had few choices so I went with the Coastal Wheat.

A- A hazy golden color. Typical for a wheat beer.

S- Really weird smell. Smells kinda of lemony, grassy, with that mildewy spell of a hefeweizen.

T-A crisp, sort of lemony wheat taste. Not to bad, kind of gimmicky though, and not sure I can drink to many of these.

M-Nice carbonation. Last time I had it in the right glass the carbonation was way more visible, but I can still taste it in this pint glass.

O- A decent beer. Would be good to get someone into the wheat style of beer, which is one of my favorites.

Poured a cloudy gold with a small watery head. Smell was a dry lemony mix as was the taste. Lemon and wheat were balanced out fairly good. Dryer finish with wheat still lingering around in the aftertaste. Pretty decent beer with the lemon twist added. I like most of sam adams offerings and this wasn't bad but not stellar by any stretch.

a: This beer pored golden cloudy...looks very appealing

s: Smells of ripe lemon....the eureka and lisbon lemons really stand out.

t: Taste like a hefeweizen by nature with a nice twist of lemon.

o: I think Sam Adams has made better beers but I would drink it again.

appearance - nice glowing yellow like a wheat beer but little to no head.

smell - some wheat and straw but slightly off as well

taste - just way too lemony. Nothing bitter or very flavorful except for the overpowering lemon flavor

Mouthfeel - watery

Overall - not very good, don't waste a purchase.

Slightly foggy and slightly low on saturation.

It smells like lemon pledge, which scares me.

The taste is empty. I continue to be disappointed by Samuel Adams.

The mouthfeel is like a dropped tennis ball. It's also a bit watery.

I had to dig at the store to get to this beer, so it might be a bit old, but it shouldn't be out of date. Either way, it was no good. I've had two disappointing beers tonight.

Pours a cloudy yellow/amber with a thin white head that dissipated rapidly, leaving no lacing as I drink.
The nose is completely lemonheads. Fake lemon smells, with not much backing it up.
The flavour follows fairly closely to the nose, with fake lemon zest being the predominant flavour, and not much behind it. As I saw another poster mention, it tastes kind of like standard fizzy yellow beer with a lemonhead thrown into it.
Decently carbonated, and goes down well enough, just not a flavour profile that does much for me.
This came in a sampler pack, so I'm not too upset, but I would never pay for this on its own.

Usually if I'm not sure what new beer I want to try I just head for a s Sam Adams style as they rarely disappoint me. This beer, however was a waste of my money for my taste.

A - yellowish-amberish I suppose.

S - Lemon, but not authentic. More of a lemon dishsoap sort of smell.

T - Very plain and dilluted. Taste like a mix of carbonated water, an adjunct beer, and a spritz or two of lemon.

M - Carbonated but wattery.

O - Not one I would personally buy again. I still remain a fan of sam adams but don't feel this one belongs in their lineup.

Poured into a pint glass, the first thing that hits you is the nice clean citrusy aroma. The body is a nice burnt gold color and is slightly hazy, but the carbonation is clearly visible. It’s topped off with a nice thick white head, and is very bubbly and frothy but doesn’t last long: there is some mild lacing too. Strong citrus aromas like oranges and lemons come through, but I also pick up some apple and mild wheat. His beer is light bodied and slightly bitter overall, but it is crisp and goes down smooth. Citrus flavors are very present but not much else, there is a slight tart aftertaste when you swallow this beer. This isn’t a bad beer but it definitely looks better than it tastes.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a SA Perfect Pint.

A: Pours pale and fizzy with little head to speak of.

S: Faint lemon and dishsoap. Really not much to smell here. Maybe some slight spice?

T: Lemon and fizzy yellow beer. No wheat tang, no yeast profile, no hops.

D: Damn drinkable, but in the same way BMC is drinkable. Its average alcohol level is hidden by a bunch of boring-ass flavours.

Overall: Not my favorite SA brew. This is some serious weak sauce. I guess if you were reeeaally thirsty and it was a reeeaally hot day this would be enticing...but so would lemonade. Drink a glass of ice water instead and save the beer calories for something with flavour.

i liked this beer. i dont expect much from a wheat beer. It was a good drinkable beer. I liked it very much. It could have a bit more fullness to the taste. I think they are trying to mass market it a little bit.

i liked the amount of carbonation in the beer and it is very like the beer i'm used to drinking. I think sam adams does very well with this beer. I think i would buy this again sometime.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

This beer pours a delightfully pleasant cloudy golden color with nearly non-existent head retention. Nose is not too strong--with the slight elements of wheat and lemon one would expect.

The wheat and lemon mix well to offer a crisp flavor. The aftertaste, however, seems slightly chemical.

Has a fairly robust mouthfeel with good carbonation throughout. Not a fantastic beer, but refreshing nonetheless.

Enjoy by Dec 2011 on label.

Gold body with a bit of haze. Good sized white head with a touch of lacing left behind.

Lemon peel and wheat in the nose. Just a but of grassy hops as well.

Taste is mostly of lemon which is expected. A bit of bitterness from the hops but is helped out by the lemon for sure. Pleasant wheat flavor does a nice job helping out the overall taste.

Good feel, light bodied with medium carbonation.

Overall not a bad brew, slightly bland but not unpleasant. Would be a decent and easy drinking summer beer.

A: Pours a pale lemon/lemonade color with a hazy body full of carbonation and bubbles. Head has good retention, about 2 fingers thick, with beautiful lacing.

S: Aromas of raw yeast and lemon citrus up front, with some grainy notes also present. Yeasty malts come through later. A little too sweet.

T: Sweet, citrus-lemon flavors hit the tongue up front. Notes of malts and grains are present at the end of the flavor profile, along with some hops and wheat spices. Lemon peel flavors add a touch of crisp, fresh citrus, along with bitterness that balances the brew well. Noticeably absent are the banana or clove flavors typically present in German Weizens.

M: Light and carbonated; definitely not hard to toss a few back; refreshing and crisp, almost thirst-quenching.

O: Somewhat lost of an identity. It's a decent beer, but doesn't hold my attention very long. Great for a hot, summer day, and better than the macro-breweries, but definitely has room for improvement.

Poured from a 12oz brown bottle.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange color. Decent sized head and some lace.

Aroma is wheat and malt with citrus. Some slight yeast aroma as well, possibly some cloves.

Taste is quite malty. The lemon comes out nicely with wheat. Mouthfeel is decent and goes down easy. Good for summer.

12oz. bottle poured into my Hacker-Pschorr hefe glass

A- straw yellow, with a nearly pure white fluffy head. Head dissipates quickly. No lacing.

S- Wheat malt, with definite lemon. The lemon just doesn't quite come off as natural.

T- Straight forward, no nonsense hefeweisen with a lemony twist. Dry on the finish.

M- Slight fizz from some tight carbonation. Really quite creamy and nice on the palette as well. Ends dry, and slightly astringent from the lemon.

O- Pleasent, but not great. Could use more focus on the wheat malt bill, but on a summer day, this is welcome.

review taken from notes

poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass

a: pours a slightly cloudy golden color with a thin wispy white head that settles quickly.

s: pretty bad aroma. a bit of malted wheat and lemon juice. that's pretty much all.

t: ugh. just too much lemons in this one. what starts off as a nice wheat flavor becomes decimated by pungent lemon flavor. not appealing or remotely balanced.

m: average mouthfeel.

just...not a good brew by Sam Adams. c'mon guys, you can do better than this! this is even worse than their summer ale, which is also way too lemony. avoid, unless its free.

Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a nice lasting white head and good lacing. Aroma of light fruity esters, some light banana and wheat notes. Taste is same as aroma with some light malt and grassy hay notes. Light crisp body and good carbonation on the palate. Light wheat and fruity notes with a lingering light malty taste on the finish. Overall a quite pleasant easy drinking summer brew.
