Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a nice lasting white head and good lacing. Aroma of light fruity esters, some light banana and wheat notes. Taste is same as aroma with some light malt and grassy hay notes. Light crisp body and good carbonation on the palate. Light wheat and fruity notes with a lingering light malty taste on the finish. Overall a quite pleasant easy drinking summer brew.

A - Pale golden yellow in color. Head is off white with good retention. Not really seeing any lacing. Nothing special here.

S - The smell is mostly of lemon peal and light grains. Pretty weak. I think the lemon dominates the nose leaving other ingredients hidden.

T - Taste is a bit better. I'm not getting as much lemon but its still there. Some sweet malts shine through with a bit of a semi bitter grainy finish.

M - Mouth feel is ok as well. Smooth, medium body and with complimenting carbonation.

O - Just an average beer here. Not the best but certainly not the worst.

Very soft aroma with light citrus and fruit with wheat base.
Large head covers a rather cloudy beer of darker yellow.
Soft and non-offensive flavors. Mild tart from lemon with slight lemon flavor.
Soft body and decent smoothness.
Easy drinking summer wheat ale.

12oz into pint

A: frothy white head with a hazy straw body. Good carbonation and lacing. Good for style.

S: The aroma shows good use of hops and a solid wheat body. A tone of cirtus hops and a medium intensity.

T/M: very clean and refreshing body, light on the mouthfeel. Flavors of cirtus and herbal spice. Wheat body does carry through the finish.

O: overall this is a good offering, but not as flavorful as others in the style. Crisp and refreshing none the less.

Bottle poured into a pint glass. Pale straw colored, slightly opaque. Half a finger of head. This is an appetizing beer.

Smells strongly of wheat. Nice! Don't smell the lemons that come through in the taste...

Tastes really good. There is a strong lemon aftertaste, which is slightly off-balance, but is nice. There's a good wheaty body to the beer itself. This is a nice addition to the Sam Adams collection.

Good body--beer is foamy and slightly tart.

Overall, this is a nice beer that I would gladly have again.

Poured from bottle to a weizen glass. Best by SEP 2011 notched on label.

A: Unfiltered light gold in color with a frothy white head, little lacing but nice retention.

S: Faint aroma of floral hops, wheat, and lemon, in that order.

T: Wheat puffs and bread up front with lemon on the back and a touch of hops bitterness.

M: Fuller-bodied than most in this style, retaining easy-drinking properties at the same time. A measure of creaminess and a brief zip of hops at the finish.

O: Not the worst APWA I've tried. Has more of a citrus profile than some, and the heavier mouthfeel is a plus for me.

Hmmm...was certainly expecting something a bit better from SA.

Poured into my SA Boston Lager pint glass...a hazy, orange/yellow color...looking the part of a Heife/wheat. Not much lace, but a decent ring throughout the drink.

Not picking up much of a scent at all...maybe some dull lemon...almost smells like a typical bmc.

Wow...taste disappoints. After the joy that was St Arnold Weedwacker just a while back, this pales in comparison. A bit like pale lemon dish soap...very dry aftertaste as well. I think SA would be wise to cut this one loose.

Sorry SA, this one does not make the cut.

Best before November

Pours a hazy golden color with a decent head and decent carbonation.

Smell is lemons, bread, herbal and earthy hops, with a metallic smell mixed in. The metallic kind of kills it but the rest is great.

Taste is bready with a hint of lemon and herbal hops. Its straight forward, but seems faded.

Mouthfeel is a little too thick for the style but nice carbonation.

Overall, its a miss for me. I've had much much better wheat beers and this is just flat if you are really looking for taste. Has its place at a BBQ

It's becoming a real uphill bottle for me to get back to The CANQuest (TM), but with so much beer in abeyance down in the basement and the summer stretched out in front of me, I feel CANpelled to rid myself of some of the backlog.

This, however, was totally fresh, with a best by date of Sep 2011. Also from the bottle: "Hazy and golden in color, this brew is a fresh twist on the popular Hefeweizen style. Eureka and Lisbon lemons from three growing regions in California balance out the wheat malt character resulting in a crisp and refreshing wheat ale with subtle lemon flavor. Cheers!"

I started out with a finger of foamy, bone-white head, but by the time I finished typing the above, it was down to wisps. That seems like good retention in my book! Color was a cloudy (not hazy) orangish-yellow. Nose had the characteristic "snap" of wheat malt, but I would have guessed orange as the underlying citrus smell, vice lemon. Whoops! Mouthfeel was relatively full, approaching creamy, with a definite citrus presence, but not a tart one. It was like a Creamsicle, reinforcing my earlier stance on orange, vice lemon. Finish was so much like a Creamsicle that I now wanted one for the first time in years! Yay, summer!

Cloudy pale yellow in color with a small fizzy white head. Head quickly fades to a ring of lace on top. Smells of honey, bananna, and lemon.
Kind of doughy flavored with the formentioned honey, bananna and lemon. A bit grainy in the finish. Mouthfeel is light but more full than I was expecting given the style. Lot's of carbonation that fizzes in the mouth. Decent beer to have if it's available but not one I would seek out.

Poured form a bottle with a best by September date.

I have to say I love many SA products, I often get the boston lager, the noble pils and the cream stout, but I hated this one, I haven't been this disappointed in one of their products since I had the cranberry lambic.

This pours a golden straw like color, slightly hazy (but not much for a wheat), white foamy head. The smell isn't good, I smell the lemon rinds but it almost smells like a lemon soap, not very appetizing. Mouth feel is okay, pretty light but good for a summer beer. The taste though is terrible, I don't get any wheat, in fact all I can taste is the lemon, its not a good tart lemon taste but instead its some bitter bizarre soapy aftertaste. I actually can't taste anything but the aftertaste. I'm so glad I tried one of these my friend had because I don't know if I could finish a 6 pack.

Overall, I disliked this and won't get it again. At least SA tried something new, its just one something I liked at all.

12oz Bottle

Appearance - Slightly hazy amber/yellow with a large size fizzy and frothy white coloured head. There is a low amount of carbonation and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for 4 minutes before it was gone.

Smell – Wheat, lemons, bananas

Taste & Mouth - The beer has an average amount of carbonation. I can taste lemons and bananas mixed with wheat. It finishes with a lemony wheat aftertaste.

Overall – The beer has a nice refreshing taste and is very easy to drink. It kind of reminded me of 'Shock Top' - not sure that is a good thing..

A- A light, hazy yellow with some cloudiness.
S- Not much very faint aroma of lemon and wheat.
T- Much like the smell not much, a hint of citrus and wheat, but lacking any substance or significant flavors.
M- Watery, it goes down very easy but doesn't really do much.
O- Very disappointing for a Samuel Adams product, if it wasn't so bland, I'm sure I would enjoy it more.

Bottle that pours a hazy yellow. Small white head and lively carbonation that really could be coming from the special "Sam Adams" pint glass.

Aroma is mostly wheat and lemon peel. That's about it there.

Flavor is the typical Sam Adams "wheat" flavor that many of their other beers follow. (Think white ale, summer ale, etc.) just with a bigger blast of lemon flavor. It's a slightly sweet beer. Not overly complex or even all that flavorful. Has a short mildly more sour lemon finish. It's not a bad beer and it's hot out so I'll go ahead and have a few more. It's crisp and refreshing. Would stick with Summer Ale though.

A - Cloudy yellow to goldenrod appearance with decent carbonation and a spongy head .

S - Wheat, banana and yeast, I don't get any lemon.

T - A nice banana and yeast taste with a little bit of wheat. I can barely taste a hint of lemon in the finish.

M - Nice mouthfeel with good bubbles. Very drinkable.

O - Good brew but would be better with some more flavor.

I picked up a 6pk of these 12oz brown bottles at the Jewel Osco store in Glendale Heights, IL for $6.99 ($1 off the regular price). My bottle says enjoy before June 11 and this is already June 5, 2011 so maybe they're marking them down before they expire.

The beer poured a hazy gold color with a huge frothy white head. Retention was decent as was the amount of lacing.

The smell was really lemony with wheat in the background.

Big lemon flavor that turns the beer sour in the mouth. Other than the lemon and wheat malt, there's not much to this. Very uninteresting.

Light bodied and severely under carbonated. The beer is almost flat.

I was not impressed with this offering from Sam Adams. There are much better wheat beers out there, so don't waste your money on this one.

A: Cloudy pale golden color with a 2-3 finger head with a decent retention and large amount of lacing

S: Fresh citrusy smell most likely lemons and yeast with a hint of wheat as well

T: Very wheat and citrus based taste. Very soft taste as well. Besides the lemon zest finish, has a very boring taste.

M: Very light bodied with a boring beginning and very zesty finish. Very frothy and thin as well

O:Has a great color for its category, fairly good smell and taste mixed with a light body make this a decent beer to enjoy

good head retention, white head. a slight haze.

nice lemon aroma "brewed with lemon peel." a little bit of malt and bread too, though not alot.

very mild flavor, like its watered down. thin watery mouthfeel. doesnt really taste like beer. cant really taste breaddiness, malt, or hops, no phenols either. just a lemony flavor with a sweet crisp finish that doesnt linger long.

overall i have to recommend avoiding this beer. sorry sam.

Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a thin white head. Smells spicy and citrusy. This has a very strong lemon flavor that is relatively crisp and relatively unimpressive. Even though I don't particularly like wheat beers, I really think this one needs a lot of improvement.

A bit of haze in this golden colored brew. Fairly small white head is pretty sticky. Nose is light wheat, with a bit of lemon. Light wheat front, some lemon, kind of a touch of soapy taste. Medium bodied, pretty smooth but it does have a little bit of a bite. I dont know, not horrible, but not my favorite SA summer brew.

A cloudy golden pour. Well carbonated yet not a fizzy carb but adds well to the foamy white head that fades well to lace abit along glass side.

The aroma of sweet wheat malts, citric zest and a citric hop base.

Taste along that aroma start follows a wheat grain, biscuit dough, with a more profound lemon or zest up front.

The mouth is left with crisp lemon pucker, yet smooth and soft.

A good warmer weather brew. Its nice that thisone is brewed all year for the warmer climate area's. A good citric ale thats not a summer seasonal.

A 12 oz bottle picked up as part of a mixed sixer at Wegmans.

A: The wheat ale is a light golden color, hazy despite having warmed up. A small head, no more than a quarter finger, arose on pour and was quickly whittled away.

S: The wheat beer has a sweet nose, mildly citric aromas alongside sweet biscuity malts. A little cloying at times.

T: Sweet biscuit cut but just a little bit of tart wheat flavors. Lemons do manage to peak out, a nice counterpoint to the rather boring biscuity malts. Fruity malt flavors follow in the finish.

M: The mouthfeel is soft, generally light throughout. The few rays of citric brightness are a nice change of pace.

I dig this brew. Note, I typically despise fruit beers. This is a pleasant wheat beer with just the right hint of lemon flavoring. Pours a nice hazy gold color. Smell is of light wheat and faint citrus. Taste follows suit. Crisp, light and refreshing. Really a pretty decent brew for warmer days.

Appearance - Pours a nice hazy, golden body. A bit darker toward the top and lighter at the bottom. Disappointing 1/2" head and lacing sticks to the side of the glass. Lots of bubbles, but I expect that from a Sam brew.

Smell - I smell sweet malts and lemon at first. Also, acidic notes make my nose pucker up a bit. Fruity hops are pretty apparent.

Taste - The balance of sweets malts and fruitiness make this a pretty smooth drink. As far as a flavor profile goes, this beer is a little underwhelming.

Mouthfeel - A little thin for my liking, but the carbonation isn't too powerful, so that makes up for it. Pretty balanced.

Overall - Uh, well, this isn't one that I am going to be buying again or will even recommend to a wheat beer drinker. I'm a little disappointed that the Boston Beer Company would put out something like this considering the amount of good beers that they have been putting out recently. In my opinion, they need to retire this one and head back to the drawing board.

This beer pours a hazy, gold colorthat leads to an aroma of bread, citrus, and vanilla. The flavor is mainly citrus with notes of honey, spice, and caramel. It's got a medium mouthfeel, fairly thick for a wheat beer, filling. Samuel Adams Coastal Wheat is an okay beer, slightly recommended.
