Well, if you are a hops lover, I believe you will love this as it is very heavy on the hops. Not much balance with the malts... which I lean towards....sorry all you hopheads. But, this is nicely done and , as par, a powerful offering from the Boston Beer Company.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, into a Cigar City pint glass.

Thick, frothy, white head that stands 1 finger tall.Bright gold colored body, with beautiful clarity.Very light carbonation.

Bright citrus and floral hop notes, with trace elements of sweet malts. The aromas are pretty faint in this beer, hard getting any kind of nose at all really.

On the palate I get a very good balance of floral and citrus hops, with sweet malts up front and in the middle. On the back end I get some spice characteristics.

The body has a light somewhat sticky mouth feel, with light oxidation on the tongue.Smooth yet slightly dry finish.

This beer is pretty much what I come to expect out of a beer made by Sam Adams.A solid beer, but nothing extraordinary. Not something I would chase, but not something I would turn down.

I had this years ago and wasn't thrilled with it but apparently I wasn't into hops as much at the time. I just had it again as part of the Brewnited pack and really enjoyed it. Pours a nice gold color with a really nice head. Good lacing on the drink down. Nice bitterness in the taste, I would gladly get this if they offered it in 6 packs. I think I would still prefer Woosie to this but this is good.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a pilsner glass, "best by" date May 20017.

APPEARANCE: pours a clear, golden color with less than one-finger white head that slowly dissipated until a thin, unbroken layer of small bubbles remained, medium carbonation, moderate lacing on the glass.

SMELL: sweet honey, crackers, citrus, grass.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, initially sweet honey, crackers, citrus and some pine.

PALATE: medium body and carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a damn fine pils, the citrus note really sets it apart and was very well done, the malt bill was like a Czech pils but the hops has citrus and pine notes and it really worked for me, one of SA's better offerings in my opinion, I'll buy this one again for sure, got this in a sampler pack for $14.99, it's a good value as well.

Bottle:
Crystal clear gold. Could be a little more head, but a resilient gossamer cap is nice. Minor lacing.

Nose is grain, dry grass, and an dried green herbal to earthy bitterness. Has a very minor buttery note, though.

Taste has a little more grassy bitterness to it, but there's a nice buttery thick cracker malt note to balance this. This beer has a little body to it, not light. Medium carbonation could be a tad stronger to help, but I like it where it is.

This is kinda like a clean pale ale, balanced in bitterness and maltiness. It is more crisp that such an ale, however, and that is what makes it different and enjoyable to me.
