Poured from a 12 oz bottle into an Ommegang tulip. For Brewery-Fresh Taste, Enjoy Before - June.
Appearance: Decent head and dark red amber color. Quiet carbonation bubbles.
Smell: A nice smelling beer. Almost bready with notes of the advertised "light pine and citrus" hops in the nose.
Taste: Interesting and not particularly what I was expecting. Bitter, but not in a refreshing pine/citrus kind of way. After a few more sips, I'm not sure I'm digging this beer.
Mouthfeel: Not bad, as it is neither too heavy nor too light in the mouth. It leaves an undesirable aftertaste though.
Drinkability: I could easily have a few of these, but I am not sure I'd want to.
Overall: Seems like a decently crafted beer, but not necessarily something I'd go for again. I'll have to seek out others in the rye style to compare.

Throws down with the red and brown, 1/4" off white head that isn't here for a long time, its here, for a mildly good time. Aroma didn't do anything to make you think 'rye'.
Taste was far from revolutionary, came off more like the status quo for SA, that is, this is Boston Lager with an ale yeast an a smidge of rye. Mild hopping, a little bit of caramel, a smooth drinking affair.

Aroma wasn’t very strong but the rye dominated in the flavor. More a of rye-based ale than a pale ale, the rye doesn’t make it too spicy and a has a good aftertaste to it.

This was the first drain pour I ever had in my life. It was horrible. It was super bready, pretty thick, high carbonation, and tasted as if someone took the whole spice cabinet and stuffed it into a beer bottle. This was horrendous.
