A- Golden with a slight amber haze. Head is slightly tan. Faint head linger throughout the session.

S-Very fresh smelling hops. Grassy fresh, freshcut jalepenos. A river rock type smell.

T-Lemon zest from the hops. slightly puckering. Kind of reminds me of Boston Lager. A very faint grassiness is detected in the background. Bitterness is well controlled and pleasent with a slight drying effect. A nice cereal grain is present at end palate. All ingredients used are very fresh.

M.F.- mouthfeel is proper for the style with a slightly below average carbonation.

O- I think Sam Adams introduced America to this hop. It is really distinct and I pick it up in a lot of beers. Now I know why this is a choice hop for many brewers.

A hoppy brew, but not overly hoppy like some. Still, it's a hoppy brew. So your mileage will vary. It goes on my list of beers to "remember, it's hoppy, so think twice before drinking!" 2010/07/01

Pours a medium amber producing 1.5 inches of frothy, beige, moderately lasting head that recedes to a nice thick surface cap leaving a thick collar & sheets of lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, a cereal hint, lemon heavy citrus & pine with grass hints. The nose is slightly light for an IPA, more like an English bitter. Taste is similar with a heavier malt backbone which is biscuit with a caramel note & an earthiness entering the hop profile. Finishes peppery & dry with lingering bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, prickly & dry in the finish & aftertaste.

Surprised to see this one come out a orange color, 1/2" of head. White, average in the lace/retention department. Aroma was real mild, some floral hops, toasted crystal malt.

More caramel in the taste, still hops take on a real mild grassy approach. Doesn't come off as an ipa really. The malt bill does, the hop variety and quantity/impact do not. Somewhere between American pale ale and English ipa I guess.

11/26....pours medium dark amber with white foam. Settles out completely. Citrus, pine, soft nose. Malty light syrup taste. Modest bitter back. Sweetness is not cut through by the hop. Naked compared to the original.

Not very hoppy. More of a malt taste with a balance of hops.

"This single hop IPA is brewed using only Hallertau Mittelfrueh Noble hops from the Hallertau region of Bavaria. These hops create a soft bitterness, along with delicate citrus and resinous pine notes that are balanced by a subtle malt sweetness & body." Brewed in the style of an American IPA. Part of the Latitude 48 Deconstructed pack, entry number 3. Available in 12 oz. bottles.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a Samuel Adams sensory pint glass. Served above 55º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a golden white hue of a frothy foam consistency over a sunset orange body with mild haziness and abundant lively carbonation. There is less visible sediment in this beer than the previous two installments. Retention is above average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.75

(Smell) The Hallertau Mitteltfrueh hop generates a lot of fruity aromas, mild peppery spice, light resins and mellow citrus notes of lemon and faint grapefruit. These pair as equally relaxed against a mildly grainy caramel syrup body. Altogether these make a light but aromatic backbone ideal for a more complex multiple-hop IPA. 3.5

(Taste) The flavor that the Hallertau Mittelfrueh hop generates is notably more peppery, earthy and less fruity and citrusy than the aroma suggested, but with a more striking bitterness than anticipated. It pairs fairly well with the biscuity and bready malt profile but the hop flavor is fairly one-sided. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) The texture of this beer is medium slick, moderately oily and resinous and medium dry. Carbonation is mellow, generating a moderate frothiness and a soft crispness. Body is medium for the style, medium overall. Balance is moderately bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is low and there are no notable off characters. 3.5

(Overall) While the Hallertau Mittelfrueh can give a tasty and bitter cutting edge to many traditional German beers, I don't think that its limited flavor potential makes it a great candidate for the IPA by itself. The hop itself came off to me as a quarter flavor and three quarters bitterness, and so I think it would do a good job in most IPAs for accenting earthy, peppery and mild fruity notes while beefing up the hop bitterness. Not my favorite in the series, but I didn't expect it to be going in. Regardless, it's still worth the experience to anybody looking to expand their hop knowledge and find their favorite hop characters. 3.5

A: This poured a clear dark gold with a little off white head.
S: It smelled like bready malt and wild honey, with a little earthy copper hops.
T: It tasted like earthy copper and mild resin hops, with some bready malt. It had a clean slightly bitter aftertaste.
M: It was somewhat thick with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This wasn't a great brew, with barely noticeable scent and taste. The body was a little weak too, although the finish was smooth, so it was at least easy to drink. Not worth trying more than once.
