look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4

Poured into a mason jar: color is copper, transparent, head is light tan, presents 1/4 inch thick then dissipates to a ring and some lacing on the glass.

Aroma is very pleasant, nice balance of malt, subtle caramel note, light biscuit, hop and bitter aromas are very nice, crisp, mix of grass and pine.

Taste is also very good: again a solid balanced profile, hops are crisp, bitter more earth and pine than citrus; malt is clean, light caramel notes, some biscuit and toast.

Mouthfeel is definitely more towards a lingering bitterness and nice dryness, a touch of sweetness than some drier ipas but acceptable and accentuating to the type of ale.

Overall, a great brew, clean flavors and good presence

A: crystal clear; bonze colored; 3 finger off white head that receded slowly and unevenly to a thick cap; moderate lacing;

S: muted; cat pee from the simcoe, but not as strong as I expected;

T: earthy up front; pine comes out mid-palate; moderate bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: always a fan of simcoe;

12oz bottle from 12-pack purchased from local Heinen's grocery store ($15.99) poured into SA perfect pint glass. Best until 10/2014.

Clear honey-amber elixir, one-finger, white foam head, thick lacing.

Spice, pine hops, caramel, biscuit malt.

Starts out with a nice pine, spice hop flavor but any promise of showcasing the hops is crushed by the malt.

Medium to light body, evenly carbonated.

Great idea but they really only went half way.
