A - This beer pours a deep ruby copper color. It has a nice 2-finger light tan head on it. The head has alright retention, and it leaves behind some lacing on the glass.

S - The smell starts off with some roasted malt and a nice big smokiness. There is also some scents of caramel as well. The smell comes off as creamy.

T - The taste has a nice caramel malt and a nice earthiness. There is smoke present, but not as much as the nose suggests. I would say the smoke is pretty mild. There is a nice toastiness present as well as some hops. The finish has some lingering smoke and touch of hop bitterness.

M - This has a medium body and good carbonation. It goes down easy, and it has a nice creamy feel to it. There is some mild smokiness and mild hop bitterness. There is also some sweetness in the background.

O - This has good drinkability. I could easily drink a sixer of this stuff. Overall, I think this is a solid rauchbier. It's certainly no Aecht Shlenkerla, but I would say a great introduction into this style that is probably off-puttiing to non-craft drinkers out there. I am glad that BBC is doing styles like this and I think it really is helping people drink what they normally would not, since more likely than not this will the first rauchbier most people ever try. Anyways, I think it is a nice beer, and I would buy it again.

A style I'm trying to familiarize myself with and really can't drink a whole bottle quite yet. I do enjoy the first half and then after that it is too overwhelming for me. Dark orange almost brown pour, nice head. Aroma of smoke is dominant. Flavor is smokey with a bit of sweetness to round it out.

Brownish color, not much head to it. Smell was lightly smokey, nice not over the top. I'm a noob for rauchbier, can't take that gallon of liquid smoke type beer.

Relatively smooth, tail end of a campfire taste, relatively easy to drink for the style. No off tastes, hops or big challenges with this one, stays away from any meaty flavors. Mildly enjoyable, this is my kind of rauchbier.

Served in a Dogfish Head snifter.

I've been waiting for the Harvest Pack to come out, just so I could try this one. Let's do it: It pours a clear copper topped by a finger of relatively short-lived dirty tan foam. The nose comprises mild hickory-smoked ham, caramel, and a touch of maple syrup and molasses. The taste amps up the smokiness of the ham, whilst still keeping the sweetness of the caramel and maple syrup around in good measures. The smoke becomes darker, more pronounced the further you indulge in this liquid. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a rather lightly syrupy feel. Overall, a nice little rauchbier, not up to the levels of the Germans, but still a generally enjoyable experience.

12oz bottle into a Mug

A- Pours a reddish brown with no head, tons of carbonation streaming up from the bottom of the glass.

S- Campfire smoke, sweet and roasted caramel malts, earthy, and some grains. Nothing crazy but actually smells real nice.

T- Just like the aroma. Up front your hit with a strong smoked meat flavor that is followed by a sweetness from the caramel/toffee notes. Has some earthy characteristics from a slight hop presence that is pretty tasty.

M- Medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a decently bitter finish.

Overall this is probably on of the best Sam Adams beers i've had in a while. The smoke is there but not in your face like most rauchbiers. Definitely a good beginner smoked beer.

Beautiful dark amber body with orange highlights. The aroma immediately brings to mind a nice smoky campfire. Very inviting. The body is a bit thin, but very smooth and quite drinkable. There’s a punch of bitterness up front that leads to a very light smoky, smooth flavor. The Rauchbier's I have been drinking have way more smoke to them, But this light level makes it way more easy to drink. Pretty good in the Fall Sampler.

A- Poured into an oversized snifter... starts with a small fizzy off white head that disappears quickly leaving minimal spots of lacing. Beer is a dark copper color turning a deep shade of ruby when held up to the light

S- First wiff is some sweet maltiness with a smokey backbone. Seems that the smoked aroma lessens and the malts come through more as the beer warms

T- Not bad, but farm from a great depiction of the style. Lots of sweet caramel malts with hints of smokiness. The smoked flavor could have been more intense instead of just a tease

M- Medium bodied with light carbonation

O- I've been enjoying rauchbiers lately, so I was hoping this one would be pretty decent as it's so easily obtainable... I'll be sticking to the harder to find, more desireable rauchs. This wasn't horrible by any means, just not up to my personal preference

A - A very nice dark brown with Head of a nice half inch and it looks kind of creamy.

S - First smells were smoke and ash with a bit of sweetness but as it warms I can almost smell candied bacon with a slight ashy malt. My friend put it in my head that it had a "salami" tone to the nose.

T - Smokey for sure but not to the point of ash more like overcooked bacon. Smokey then bacon then a sweet finish like brown sugar goodness.

M - Light to medium I enjoyed sipping this one.

Overall I am quite impressed with this offering and even though I haven't had many of the style I can say this one is the best so far.

Brown Bottle. 12 oz, Fresh to Date.

A: Pours a cloudy dark amber with a
large forming short lasting head. Nice
amount of carbonation.

S: Smells like a died out fire the next
morning. With toffee and other burnt
malts.

T/M: Tastes like it smells. Smokey semi-
sweet with hints of caramel and hops.
Finish is sweet with that lingering
smokiness. Medium bodied.

O: Never had this style before, so I have
nothing to base this beer on. Still it's good
and I like the smokey campfire theme.
I could never have more than a few, as
the smokiness does start to get a little old.

Cheers!
