Found an aged bottle at the house. It was at least 3 years old. There was no stout character some raisin and brown sugar notes. Cloudy and hazy . There was a slight tartness and Bret mustiness.

Interesting, nice smell and taste initially. Medium-bitter aftertaste but not too strong on hops. Lots of chocolaty taste.

This has to be 5+ yrs old, no date visible on the bottle. Pours a dark brown with slight red highlights, small brown head that fades to a ring, spotty lacing. Not getting any chocolate or coffee, but lots of dark fruit. Doesn't have the flavor or aroma profile I usually associate with stouts. Not something I'd try again.

Pours very dark. Thick foaming lacing that is gone within a minute leaving not a trace. Smell has a lot of wine characteristics, fruit, fresh, sour (not bad, just Belgian yeast). Mouthfeel is again wine like -low carbonation. The bottle says stout, havn't noticed any of that yet. The alcohol is apparent (not burnie) and at 9% will hit soon enough. Strange, this seems much more like a dark Belgian abby ale than a stout in any way -way too sour for a stout. It's not bad at all, actually quite pleasant, just not what I was expecting. Finish is pretty smooth, but the wine and sour characteristics are very obvious. They should have just called it a "Dark Belgian Ale" and left it at that.

The pour is a dark brown color yielding the same colored body with a thin not even a half finger white foamy head. Lacing is sporadic and kinda all over the place. The smell has some plum, yet with some nice spice (thinkin’ some cloves and allspice). Chocolate and a light raisin sort of aroma enters in nicely at the end. The taste has a nice Belgian sweetness without any strong yeastiness of most Belgians, slight spicy yet somewhat chocolatey aftertaste, sticky sweet finish. The palate has about a medium, actually for a 9% brew this has a slight sessionable element to it. Carbonation isn’t harsh nor smooth, nor is there anything that makes it standout in the mouthfeel, but I will say I do feel the ABV startin’ to creep up on me. Overall, pretty nice imperial stout that I could come back to.
