Starts with a nice pumpkin spice nose, but taste is more vegetal/squashy. If they could sweeten it up a bit, and add some nutmeg, this could be decent. As it is, not the worst effort.

Sam Adams Double Pumpkin through Randall of vanilla, cinnamon, clove, and roasted barley (draft)
A: pours dark amber body, almost auburn with a small, white head with low retention and lacing.
S: sweet, clove taste; subtle sweet malty smell
T: sweet, alcohol, clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and subtle vanilla notes; pretty good tasting beer; some alcohol note aftertaste
M: pretty thin, nothing too impressive
O: ok feel and taste combo, but mouthfeel could have been a little bit better

Tried this at Eli Cannon's in Middletown, CT. Came in a tulip glass with about a half inch of head. Not much lacing if any. Dark cola color. Smells slightly of cinnamon and pumpkin spice. Tastes like nag champa. Its pretty good.

This goes a long with the October theme, of course this makes a great brew when the leaves are falling. A different variety to the Oktoberfests. This one has variations of sweet and bitter. This one seems to a bit drier than the others but still has a sweet finish. One of my favorites from Sam Adams again. This one takes the sweetness and crispness to a whole new level!

An amazing pumpkin ale. Very hard to find near me. It's pretty dark compared to others. Smell has the usual spices. Taste is nice sweet pumpkin goodness. Try it

Reviewed from notes. The appearance had a dark brown/black colored body and left a one finger white foamy head that lasted less than twenty seconds. The body was too dark for any carbonation to be seen rising. Some nice light yet filmy/foamy lacing appeared but settled and slid down the sides of the glass. The smell was superb as not just pumpkin, but allspice, ginger, clove, some slight molasses and cinnamon speckled themselves throughout the entire "pumpkin" aroma. Big wow (at least to me). The taste had all of these typical flavorings and added a slight caramel flavoring, a bit of malt and some extra rich dark fruitiness to it. The palate sat about a medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. This wasn’t exactly a very drinkable beer, could be close to a palate wrecker with all that was going on with it. It has a sweet dry finish. Overall, though not very drinkable, I really liked this, probably would have been better if I saved this just a tad longer. This is a very good "pumpkin" ale.

Pours an orange color with a foamy head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is pumpkin pie spice. Sweet taste of pumpkin spices and brown sugar. A strong alcohol flavor.

its like drinking pumpkin pie at thanksgiving. And this would be a great beer to go with Thanksgiving dinner. Smells of pumpkin and cinnamon and nutmeg. The Taste of pumpkin is overshadowed by the cinnamon and nutmeg. Head was a little thick for me but i loved this beer

I got this for my wife because she likes pumpkin beers. I'm not usually a big fan of them, but I'll drink one on occasion. I really enjoyed this beer and could drink it regularly. The smoked malt gives it a subtle hint of smokiness.

This pours a dark amber. The head was moderate. There's some pumpkin spice on the nose. The taste is strong with pumpkin spice. Nutmeg, cinnamon. A delicious pumpkin beer.

22 oz bottle with a very well designed label. Marked as 8.5% ABV.

This pours clear but dark, red-brown, with a decent bone-colored head. This soon reduces to a ring that leaves minimal lacing.

Aroma: caramel; dark bread, vanilla and surprisingly light spicing.

Flavor: For those of us who often find pumpkin beers over-spiced but who do not object in principle to the addition of such spices, this pumpkin ale hits the proper spicing level: The well chosen and balanced mix of spices is both obvious and light enough to let the underlying ale shine. There's even a nice pumpkin note here that has none of the unfortunate vegetative characteristics found in some other pumpkin ales. Lightly sweet and mildly boozy with hints of fruitcake and vanilla.

Mouthfeel: Slick and smooth, the body is medium-full and well (light-medium) carbonated.

Overall: an outstanding pumpkin beer; certainly one of the best I've tried.

In review is a 2012 vintage.

A - Pours a hazy dark amber color with a caramel lacing ring.

S - Spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, maple, pumpkin, and ginger.

T - Pumpkin, ginger, all spice, cinnamon, some traces of vanilla. Mostly malt and spice with a mild bitterness on the back end to knock down some of the sweetness.

M - Big medium body that's a little watery up top but robust underneath. Carbonation in non-existent. Very viscous.

O - This aged far better than I ever expected.
