Pours a near-black with a huge brown head with great retention. Tons of lacing. Beautiful!

Coffee and chocolate in the nose, some dark fruit and alcohol phenols.

Taste follows the smell... an equal amount of coffee and dark fruit, initially sweet followed by some hoppy bitterness; strong roasted malts throughout. Really nice!

Mouthfeel is okay. I wouldn't mind some additional thickness and chewiness with a brew this robust.

Overall a great beer for a cool day... solid all the way around! I've been increasingly impressed with what BBC is doing with what is pretty much mass-produced beer.

I was highly impressed by this beer especially after having there Chocolate Bock, which was terrible in my opinion. This beer had a very creamy head along with a very creamy taste. The roasted malt characteristics were on point as well as the smooth finish. It could have had a little more hop taste(coming from someone who isn't high on hops) but overall i still give this beer an 8.5 out of 10

A: Typical stout. Black as night. Just a hint of brown on the edges when held up to a light. A tan 1 finger head with decent lacing.

S: Nice. Sweet bit of chocolate...and a hint of astringency.

T: Wow.Very nice. A perfectly balanced blend of flavors. While the coffee is strong and does not overpower. Just enough chocolate/malt sweetness to keep you coming back. Nice roasted flavors are noticeable. Hops provide just enough bitterness to balance things. Awesome lingering flavors of coffee and chocolate. A Starbucks Cafe mocha in a beer!

M: Creamy...smooth...full bodied.

O: I REALLY like this new offering. Most coffee stouts I have had are higher ABV beers. This is perfect. Balance is the key. Nothing overpowers and this is highly drinkable. A great alternative to the imperial stouts with coffee. A great beer IMHO. I'll certainly stock up on this if it goes to sixers!

Appearance - Pours a true to the style very dark black. White head, was hoping more khaki in it and it disappears very quickly, lacing seems to be pretty good though. Pretty standard

Smell - WOW, honestly smells like any good craft coffee stout. Big coffee in your face, roasted malts, i am pretty blown away by it.

Taste - Follows the nose. It kind of tastes like a waters down breakfast stout but in a good way. I am pretty damn impressed to be honest, nice roast, chocolate and coffee notes in this one.

Mouthfeel - Pretty standard, nothing good nothing great, fizzy yet smooth and milky.

Overall - I must say i bought the 12 pack winter variety just to try this beer and i am really glad i did, i was really kind of surprised at the quality of this one. Very coffee forward but does not dismiss the great qualities of a stout, chocolates and roasted malts. Very nice, i am impressed!

Surprised to see this out so early! (oct 26)...too early in my opinion

A-very dark brown with a nice tan head that stays well. some lacing.

S-smells like coffee beans, like a fist full of coffee beans. just a hint of that samuel adams backbone to it. decent strength

T-comes in with an impressively full flavored taste of coffee beans. definitely has that bean taste to it more so than the actually beverage. its a good dark taste that continues as a great after-taste. this is a really good full flavored stout! has just a hint of sour milk to it.

M-creamy medium carbonation with a really creamy finish

O-i'm fairly impressed with this stout. Its one of the most full flavored American stouts that i've had. it shows how good and fairly intense flavor can come from a lower ABV. it does seems to lose some of its luster as the drink goes on.

New for the 2011 Winter Holiday Variety Pack. Best by: Feb 28, 2012. Poured at 60 degrees F into Chimay chalice.

A: Black with dark brown highlights with a thick tan head that quickly recedes into nothingness.

S: Smells heavily of coffee, cream, and roasted malts. Interesting.

T: Really bizarre. It literally tastes like coffee. There's is a bit of a roasted malt backbone and a smidge of hops. There is also a nice chocolate undertone.

M: Medium-thick bodied. Moderate carbonation. As expected for a stout.

O: Definitely a nice winter-type drink. There's a lot more coffee character than any stout I've ever had before. It's not really a bad thing at's just...strange. I guess you don't how much it tastes like coffee unless you try it. If you're not a fan of coffee, avoid this one; you won't like it. Otherwise, it's a quality, albeit interesting, stout. Definitely worth picking up, especially since it comes packaged with some other great brews.

A: Nice rich brown body with a robust coffee colored head.
S: Roasty, smokey, and cocoa notes with a hint of charcoal.
T: The flavor starts with some nice roasted malt flavor and melds into a great subtle bitter coffee taste. Not too overpowering or overly sweet. Nice simple coffee stout.
M/O: This beer is a good representation of the style. Not too overpowering and not too sweet.

Pours a deep black, very little light getting through. Forms a thin tan head which quickly fades to a bit of lacing.

Very strong coffee smell from this one. There is a bit of sweetness there, I can detect chocolate, but the coffee pretty much dominates.

It actually starts out sweet, like if you were drinking a mocha with whipped cream on top. The coffee then kicks in, not overpowering, but most noticeable at the back end. There is a bit of fruit as well, right before the coffee kicks in. The aftertaste is almost all coffee.

Feels pretty solid, not real thick, but far from watery. A little more carbonation would possibly make it feel a little stronger.

Overall I found this one to be very drinkable. Normally beers like this are a bit to bitter for my taste, but this one gives me a bit of sweet combined with a nice coffee flavor, minus the bitterness. Definitely worth checking out.
