12 oz bottle poured into a Sierra Nevada imperial pint.
6.5% ABV, "Enjoy now or age it to further develop rich and unique flavors."
A - Deep ruby copper in color and completely clear, Tasman Red is gorgeous-looking! Sheets of clinging lace cake the glass as the thick pile of rocky light-khaki head falls.
S - Hearty earth aromas burst from Tasman Red with force. Amber malt provides nutty, caramelly-sweet malt with toffee traces and a dry Vienna finish. Plenty of hops balance out with mild citrus tones, leaning towards the rich earthy notes of dirt, mulch, and mowed lawn.
T - While there are plenty of hops in Tasman Red, they take a back seat to the malt profile that streams fourth. Sticky sweet caramel and dry toast envelope the earthy hops but combine and balance very well together.
M - Despite the boldness of the beer on all accounts, Tasman Red is very smooth across the palate. Dry finishing with a balancing bitterness, it goes down very nicely.
O - The hops are tame for an American IPA, but Tasman Red pulls through with great balance and drinkability. Deep malt complexity and sweetness is complimented by the earthiness the hops exhibit. A pleasure to drink.
