A- dark copper in color with a foamy white head, little lacing.

S- woody, mossy, some sweet malts. Getting a very musky outdoor like smell. Very interesting.

T- musky, oaky, a bit of bubble gum, red apples, finishes slightly sour and astringent.

M- medium body, medium-low carbonation.

O- a very different and interesting take on a red ale. It starts sweet, then moves into the oak taste which brings out a bit of the sourness. Overall different and something I'd like to see more of.

Best damn beer i have tasted from the sam adams family of beers. refreshing, colorful, nice 1 finger off white head. wanted more of this beer than the 12 pack brew masters special offered. very sharp taste . equally as sharp after taste. not to bitter not to smoked tasting. quite perfectly infused in my opinion.

Poured into a mug.

Pours a clear amber colored brew that boasts a generous yellow-white head - about two fingers thick.

Smells of sweet caramel malts, vanilla and a faint earthy hop.

Tastes mildly woody with vanilla and caramel notes there is also some delicate herbal hops as well as some toasted bread. Finishes dry.

Smooth and creamy mouthfeel.

This would be much nicer if there were a little more "Mighty" in the bottle. This brew just misses a bit. If the woodiness from the oak were a bit more pronounced it would have made for a much nicer brew. As it stands, this is a good, but not great brew. Samuel Adams generally comes through and this is no exception, but there is nothing terribly remarkable here.

A - Pours a fairly clear amber-red with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving bedhind some light lace.

S - Aroma is a mix of toasted and caramelized malts with some vanilla, oak, and a touch of dark fruit.

T - Starts off with a mix of sweet caramelized malts with some light vanilla, and a touch of noble hop. Through the middle, some oak comes through with a touch of dark fruit. The finish is a mix of toasted caramelzied malts with some vanilla, oak, and earthy flavors.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a sweet and oaky finish.

D - Very drinkable. Pretty good amber ale with the oak flavor adding some complexity. A bit off balanced though.

12 fl oz brown glass bottle with standard pressure cap acquired as part of a seasonal variety box. Reviewed from notes taken while drinking it in Palo Alto, California.

A: Pours a four finger head of fair cream and thickness, and good retention. Colour is a nontransparent auburn.

Sm: Light toasted malt. Caramel. Amber hops. Some vanilla. Malty but inviting. A moderate strength aroma.

T: Light roast. Slight vanilla. No real oak comes through. Amber hops. Complex enough, but a bit too malty for the style. It's decent.

Mf: Smooth and wet. A bit heavy on the palate. Complements the flavours to a moderate extent.

Dr: Feels off. Never really right. Enjoyable, but far from exemplary for the style. I wouldn't get it again. Decently priced.

Pours a reddish/amber into a pint glass, with an inch head that dissipates fairly quick.
Lots of malt on the nose, sweet and some oak bourbon scent also.
Sweet on the tongue, caramel, some honey comes to mind. Hop bitterness is very low, and the low ABV combined with the medium carbonation makes this a very easy drinking beer.
Overall a nice Amber, nothing complex though.
A good session beer.
