Style: Kellerbier / Zwickelbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Borne of our brewers’ many trips to Germany, Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

Poured a 12 oz bottle into a generic pint glass and am overwhelmed by the the fruity aromas wafting out of it.

A. Pours like a murky budweiser with white sticky fluffy white head one finger thick.

S. The smell as I already said is overwhelmingly strong. It smells of oranges and lemons and perhaps even a little bit of apple from the yeast.

T. The flavor is very effervescent and tangy. Lots of esters and residual sweetness. Not really my kind of beer.

M. The feel on the tongue is heavy and slow like molasses.

I would not seek this beer out unless it was the only thing between me and a MGD.

Unfiltered golden straw appearance with okay head. Not much of an aroma. Citrus, wheat notes with a tartness. Lacks real depth. Really average--kind of bland--altogether.

We've heard this is awesome on draught so we look forward to reviewing it again.

A- Hazy orange with a solid white head. A good amount of clingy lacing sticks around after the head recedes, leaving a thin strip of white foam that doesn't seem to ever leave.

S- Light citrus on the nose with wheat and a touch of banana and clove. Technically sound aroma, even if they aren't overly pronounced.

T- Awesome clean citrus wheat flavors. Good amounts of spice with a smooth banana taste at the middle. The end is slightly earthy, with just enough of a spicy, earthy hop bite to balance out the lingering orange sweetness. Pretty solid taste.

M- Smooth and light bodied. Really awesome mouthfeel.

O- Solid, tasty, refreshing beer. Great for those first warm days for Spring. Go drink some!
