Style: Kellerbier / Zwickelbier

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Spring

Notes / Commercial Description:
Borne of our brewers’ many trips to Germany, Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. The beer is brewed with Noble Tettnang hops to add a unique, bright orange-citrusy aroma and flavor.

Reviewed from notes.

Hazy amber with a small white head, with decent retention and lacing. Has a herbal grassy / grainy aroma.
Tastes much like it smells with some some bread malts, and light citrus.
Medium bodied with average carbonation. A decent beer, but nothing special.

This beer is an opaque dark tan color with a moderate foamy white head. It has very little scent at all besides maybe a faint citrusy aroma. It has a very crisp, refreshing taste, but nothing too complex flavor wise. It tastes like nothing so much as beer with a little malty citrusy flavor. There’s nothing too exciting here, but it’s definitely very drinkable. I wouldn’t call it one of my favorite Sam Adam’s beers, but I would say it’s probably a little above average for what they offer.
