L: Hazy yellow color. Half inch foamy head with good retention.

S: Citrus and floral notes.

T: Maybe a little bit of fruity notes but mostly bitter hop taste.

F: Left my mouth feeling "dry". Not sure how to describe it exactly.

O: Not a good Belgian white or IPA. Wouldn't get this again.

Part of a variety 12-pack $14.99 Safeway
Clear golden color
Medium carbonation
Medium-light mouthfeel
Bitterness from hops, but not overwhelming.
Overall just ok. Would not buy a 6-pack of it.

A-Bottle poured into a pils glass, this beer is slightly cloudy and light golden with a sticky dense white head
S-hops hit you hard: pine, apricot with a bit of skunk.
Taste-I get a strong apricot flavor atop a significant wheat maltiness. Plenty of bitter, and citrus hops. Touch of skunk.
M-lacks the smooth body of a good wit. Lingering bitter finish with above average carbonation.
Overall- a pretty steep drop down from my preferred white ipas. Lacks a good Belgian wit flavor with a lot of bitter hop quality overwhelming this brew. This beer is notched enjoy before July so I'm sure it's not at its best.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.

Appearance: Pours a hazy straw gold with a huge white head. Rings of lacing.

Aroma: Wheat, citrus, pine. Maybe a touch of coriander.

Taste: Follows nose. Some fruity notes, akin to grapefruit or maybe cantaloupe. Hop bitterness fairly noticeable.

Mouthfeel: Drinkable despite the heavier than expected hops. Bitter finish, but not overpowering.

Overall: Decent Belgian/American IPA hybrid. Nice companion for pizza.

Decent looking beer with very good head and beautiful lacing, impressive really. You can also smell the orange and coriander quite well, but unfortunately, it does not equate to a well tasting IPA with this mixture. I found it run-of-the-mill as far as IPAs go and the bitter aftertaste did not help any either. Overall, it's not a bad beer, just not one I will be looking for in the future.

Another Sam Adams with crap added. Boston beer gives me an appreciation of the German purity laws. Oh yeah, this beer... I probably won't buy this again. Let's leave it at that.

L: Beautiful hazy orange colored beer with two fingers of a slightly tinted white head with good retention that leaves behind a heavy lacing.
S: pine, oranges, coriander
T: no alcohol present in the taste, starts piney moves over to apricot, the wheat, and the coriander, ends hoppy. Fairly complex
F: refreshing, crisp, not quite light.
O: This is somewhere between a Belgian style IPA and an American IPA. Very refreshing beer.

One of many SAM brews I will be trying (tried) but I see there are many more yet to be had. Let's give this one a whirl. Popping the top I get a nice wet pine smell that is very zesty. On the pour this brew is bright yellow orange with a huge micro bubble head that has a pillow top and recedes slowly lacing as it goes. On the taste the brew has a nice hop bite that slickly transitions to a more balanced and almost biscuit-like center with a bitter yet bready finish. A very different IPA in that most are full on grapefruit bitters then sweet but this is more bready. I like it. Part of the SAMs case assortment so I will continue to drink with all the rest.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into snifter, pours a mostly clear golden color with a slight haze, a nice thick head.
Smells of a tiny hint of honey, a lot of hops and wheat malt.
Taste is very complex, sporting a nice hoppy and floral start into a sweet honey/wheat taste with some citrus undertones kicks in. After that, it finishes with a light floral aftertaste.
Mouthfeel is very drinkable, smooth and medium bodied.
Overall, this is a great IPA that's so smooth and drinkable, it actually tops in at my favorite IPA to date.

Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into my Sam Adams The Perfect Pint glass, this beer pours a mainly clear, just ever so slightly cloudy/hazy, light golden color color with lots of streams of little bubbles fairly rapidly and continuously rising towards the beer's surface. Has a nice, thick and fluffy looking white head that's well over an inch thick with excellent retention. Excellent lacing too. Nice citrus and piney hop aromas, with the orange peel and grapefruit coming through quite excellently indeed along with a bit of clove. Has a very citrusy, courtesy of the aforementioned orange peel and grapefruit of course, hop bitterness upfront that gives way to some pine and clove notes that are rounded out with a slightly biscuity and bready, mildly sweet malt presence. The citrus hop flavor is the dominant one here, but it is not overwhelming by any means and this is not an overly bitter, as the other flavors come through nicely as well. Has a slightly crisp and prickly, but mainly smooth and frothy, medium bodied mouthfeel with a clean finish. Quite and enjoyable and refreshing on this very warm and fairly humid night here in Cleveland. One of the best beers I've had from the fine folks at the Boston Beer Company in quite awhile. I was quite impressed with this!

This beer pours a pale orange color with a large, pillowy head. The aroma is dominated by citrus - orange and lemon peel, as well as grapefruit and blood orange juice, with a hint of clove. The flavor also strongly features the citrus elements previously referenced, clove, and bitter burnt bread crust. The level of bitterness was pleasantly higher than I had anticipated for this style. The mouthfeel is light and frothy. Overall this was a really nice example of this style, a beer I truly enjoyed.

pours a cloudy golden color about a one finger head which lasted till the beer was gone and a spotty blotchy lace that stuck to the finish. mild aromas of fruit and citrus and hints of pine. taste is malty, fruity, pine and a slight grapefruit rind after taste. carbonation ok with lots of tiny bubbles. I don't like a real strong ipa this was on the milder side and enjoyable I would buy again.

This brew pours a cloudy, hazy orange color with a two finger head which sticks around for a long time and good lacing.
The smell is full of melon, grapefruit and other citrus, tangerine and a little pine along with bready malts.

Unfortunately, the taste does not follow the nose; instead of being able to taste the hop flavors individually, everything blends together in a big hoppy mess; there is no subtlety; just palette shredding hops. The bready malts are also barely discernable. Overall, this is a disappointment.

Pours a hazy golden color, with a one finger cloudy head. Laces quite a bit.

Smells of sweet exotic fruit (the apricot definitely comes out), malt, and some moderate hop bitterness. Some Belgian yeast as well.

As expected from Sam Adams, the taste is quite subdued. With that said, this is one of the wheatier IPA's I ever had. The Belgian yeast and exotic fruit also comes through. Carbonation was slightly to high for my liking.

I picked this up as part of a $13 sampler 12-pack of Sam Adams beer, and while I don't love this, this is sort of the quality I expect from Sam Adams. Solid, slightly boring but in a semi-imaginable way, but ultimately worth the price.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a slightly murky gold colored beer with a small white head. The aroma is fairly hoppy smelling with some citrus. The taste is heavy on citrus (a good thing) and has a small hop bite.

APPEARANCE: A hazy sort of burnt tangerine. A finger + of foamy off white head that lasts and leaves some impressive lacing down the glass.
AROMA: A little astringent, definitely get the apricot, floral, citrus, and minor pine.
TASTE: A little sweetness up front, I get some citrus, the apricot, and the wheat/breadiness. Generic, slightly out of place bitterness mid taste that lingers.
FEEL: Medium thin body, good carbonation.
OVERALL: I think it's ok. The bitterness is a little much because in the taste there isn't quite enough of the other flavor to balance it. Still not bad. Reminds me of a decent IPA that's been on the shelf a month too long.

All dat turbidity of a possibly wheat ipa? Super chunky haziness. Aroma was very much witbier ipa, but not pungent ipa hopping, which SA never does anyways.

More wheat in the taste, it is the bigger, more prominent part of this beer, hops as usual take a back seat. Nothing wrong with this beer, but it does come off as a marketing ploy, hit the mass craft genre styles, combine them = $$$. Not quite. Enjoyable, but doubtful I'd ever buy an entire 6 pack of this, better as part of a variety pack, as such was obtained.

Marginal, I was expecting a lot more. The beer was way too fruity. It looks good, has a nice feel but those are the only positives I found. Really doesn't even taste like a beer one would drink in winter and may be better served as a spring tailgate beer before a baseball game that would taste good after a bunch of Bud Lights and Keystones.

Part of the Hop Tour 6 Pack

A pale cloudy orange color, moderate visible carbonation, little head, decent amount of lacing around the edges that sticks to the glass most of the way down.

The smell is minimal but that of fruit, wheat, and hops. The taste is more pronounced, with layers of wheat followed by apricot and orange zest. It finishes mildly sweet with a slight hop bite at the end. Nothing super strong.

Lighter mouth feel with again noticeable carbonation on your tongue.

Overall, didn't blow me away, but it was part of a Hop Tour 6 Pack that was pretty fun. It was nice to put these 3 beers next to each other and see the difference. This was more of a hop study than an outright delicious beer tasting to me.

Poured from bottle to pint glass.

Look: Absolutely beautiful. A nice hazy unfiltered golden orange color. There is a lot of sediment hanging around in the beer, but I personally love that. Poured a nice half inch of white head that lingered and left nice lacing.

Smell: Smells like summertime. Very piney with subtle undertones of citrus. Although I did have difficulty smelling it once poured into glass.

Taste: Orange is extremely prominent in the flavor. It follows the nose well, but this time with citrus leading the way and the hops following behind. Very good attempt at mixing Belgium wheat and IPA.

Feel: Very crisp, very refreshing and smooth. Coats the mouth perfectly.

Overall: Sam Adams has always been really hit or miss with me, more so on the miss. This is by far the best I've had by them.

I like this as a summer IPA (if there is such a thing). This has a fresh, clear taste that strikes sits on my tongue and leaves a bright aftertaste. I can't explain why, but I don't appreciate that taste in colder weather and seek hardier, heavier, hoppier brews in the cold weather.

A: 3.75 - Very hazy gold with a dense half inch head... in fact, looking at it, there's an incredible amount of sediment hanging in the beer, rather sooty looking. Marking it down off what I was inclined to score at the start.
S: 3.25 - Very little aroma, even putting my nose right up to the foam. A light lemonish scent, perhaps.
T: 3.25 - Sharply bitter initially, giving way to a typical SA house yeast flavor, but little hop taste.
M: 3.75 - Light bodied, nice light feel for a good drinking texture.
O: 3.25 - Not a very good beer, which is too bad, as SA has produced some decent IPAs recently.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass.

A: Hazy, unfiltered light orange. 1 1/2 finger off-white head.
S: Strong pine notes, berry, and slight orange zest.
T: Taste follows the nose, with the orange becoming more prominent in the flavor. Bold hop flavor that is just a touch less than their Latitude 48. Caramel malt in the middle.
M: Medium body, slight IPA aftertaste. The orange is prominent, but doesn't add much to an already citrusy IPA.
O: Okay. The blend of two styles is interesting, but it is a little too bitter to be a belgian white. I guess Wheat IPA is the proper term.

White IPAs are my all time favorite type of beer. They are not always the most easy to find in stores (I usually find them in summer months in breweries/on tap), so I thought I'd give Samuel Adams a go. And, this was by far one of my least favorite beers I have ever tried. It tastes like straight up orange peels, no depth at all. Disappointed.

Pours out to a creamy white head that laces. Color is a hazy yellow-orange. Aroma is fruity and citrus and pine as you would expect. it smells great. Flavor is what you would e expect from an apricot IPA and more: complex fruits, malts, and hop flavors of pine, apricot. Good call.
