Pours a great looking munich dunkel. A cloudy brown hue with a good amount of carbonation that gives the beer an awesome tan head that stays all the way throughout the drink.
Smell is nice. Good malt smells with a very sweet sugary smell too. A bit of clove and banana as well.
Taste is great. A well-balanced beer that has some nice tastes. A good malt background with some very sweet and spicy notes.
Mouthfeel has a medium thickness. A bit of chewiness as well.
A good balanced beer makes this one go down well. A very good balance of nice smooth malts and spices ames the a very drinkable beer.

Served from the bottle into a tall pilsner glass. Tons of cola-like carbonation. Nice sized white head on top of a leather brown body. Smell was very malty and bready. Taste was certainly pleasant. I liked the flavors of fig and maple syrup. Only downfall here was the mouthfeel. I found this beer to be way too sweet; almost sticky on the palate as it warms to room temp. A tasty beer, but really need to drink it cold to avoid the sugariness that builds up at the end.

Appearance - Pours a beautiful deep ruby brown with a tan 2 finger head, average retention, resulting in a lace that's thin but sticky.

Smell - Faint notes of toffee and even lighter coffee, dry and floral hops.

Taste - Starts with sweet toffee before quickly shifting to a hearty roasted coffee. Notes of caramel and chocolate come into play before finishing with the addition of a floral, drying finish.

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body. Crisp, lively carbonation. Goes down fairly smooth. Finishes semi-dry.

Overall - Really good dark lager. Session friendly. Sam Adams should hire Mr. Corey Martin, because this is one of the better beers I've had from the brewery.

A: A clear dark brown with a finger's width tan colored head with a little lacing down the glass.

S: Toasted honey and bready malt.

T: Sweet honey toasted malt up front with a roasted malt flavor in the background. The bready yeast comes through in the finish with the earthy, roasted malt.

M: Medium bodied with a spicy feel from the carbonation.

O: Lots of malt in this one. I do like how you can differentiate between the different types of malt in the beer. Gives it some depth. Well done.
