A - Pours a nice clear deep amber with one finger of head. Head doesn't last too long and leaves very little lacing.

S - Smell is initially sweet, with some caramel, raisin and plum. After adjusting to the sweetness, a big bread aroma comes through.

T - Taste is similar to smell with more of a spice presence. Dark bread, plums and caramel. Pretty good.

M - Medium, slightly sticky mouthfeel that finishes with a bit of dry spiciness.

O - Pretty decent beer, but it doesn't really stand out in any way.

12oz brown bottle.

LOOK: Dark and tawny, decent lacing

SMELL: Brown bread, mineral, very malty, melanoidan-like, floral, clean

TASTE: Sweet, big bodied, coffee, dark bread, black currants, malty, faint alcohol, clean, herbal, nutty, toasted grain, semi-sweet finish

Pretty good, seem to have a bit too much body for my liking and the style and does take away from the drinkable potential here. Happy to try it but it is one and done.

From notes.

Poured a medium brown with a finger of light tan foam that faded, leaving minimal lacing. Smells of earthy malt, toffee and nuts. Taste is caramel malt, sweet, roasted elements coming in behind and a sense of doughiness and bread. Medium body, holds together. Mildly carbonated. Enjoyable beer.

A - Pours a chestnut brown color with a small tan head that dies down to a thin ring of lacing. Carbonation is light.

S - Malt forward, sweet roasted caramel and toffee, candied figs, bready, rum raisin aroma (without the alcohol edge).

T - The very first taste gives me the impression of nut bread mingled blended with roasted toffee and caramel. The flavors swirl around the palette and then finishing with a slight dark chocolate pine bitterness.

M - Body is medium, but on the light side.

O - If you're into German lagers, it's worth checking out.

A solid dark lager. Brown sugar, toffee, caramel, and bread crust. Little in the way of hops. Clean. Sweet at the start but the balance ends up being neutral. Not much to say - not bad, not great, no real flaws, but it's not blowing my socks off. The two bottles that came in the Longshot 6 pack are enough to give me a feel for this down the middle lager.
