Great looking brown ale here. Color is just perfect, plus it’s clear, and there’s a solid head formation.

They nailed the aroma. Such an inviting nutty scent. Never had a beer with hazlenut before, and this makes me wonder why. I’m really enjoying the smell of this. Chocolate notes are also present.

Flavor has toasted malts, hazelnut, and then a slight hop spice in the finish. Terrifically balanced. I can’t stand a brown ale to be too sweet, and thankfully this one isn’t. Body is on the lighter side of medium, with ample carbonation, allowing this beer to be enjoyed in multiples. This really is a fantastic fall beer. The hazle nut flavor is always present but never overbearing; they dialed it in nicely. And I really like the bitterness found in the finish. Again, this is just really well balanced.

Glad I got to try this and I’m excited there’s still one more in my fridge. Would definitely buy more of this given the chance. Hazel Brown: recommended!

12oz bottle from the Fall Harvest Collection
Pours a ruby-brown color with a frothy beige head, good retention and lacing. Aromas are nutty, malty, caramel, toffee, earthy, spicy. Tastes - whoa hazelnut! Nutty, toasted hazelnut, toffee, caramel, spicy. At first the hazelnut is over the top but the other malty tones help to tame it down and the flavors actually all meld pretty well. Mouth-feel is thin-to-medium bodied, creamy. Overall, for the style this needs to be more sessionable. The hazelnut is definitely showcased here, but for me it's a one & done - too much hazelnut.

Orlando, Fl - Publix Supermarket - 12 oz bottle - part of the Fall Variety pack. Pours a dark chestnut with an initial bubbly off-white head that fades quickly. Aroma is heavy with rich toffee and vanilla accents. Flavor has some nice solid hazelnut notes, a hint of vanilla and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium. Texture is watery. Light medium carbonation. A nice brown. The aroma is the best part of it. Balanced.

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a rather large off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light caramel malt with light traces of hazelnut. Taste is a pretty easy to drink mix of light caramel malt with some notes of hazelnut and light residual sugar. Body is a bit light with good carbonation. Easy drinking with limited complexity.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Sept. 5, 2012 (purchased at Mission Valley (San Diego, Calif.) Vons on Sept. 2, 2012 as part of a Harvest 12-pack for $12.98). About three fingers of head. Poured a caramel, brown with khaki tan lacing. Good retention on sides (balanced, khaki white foam) and top (nice layer of film).

Smelled sharp note of a hybrid of chocolate, caramel and toffee. Reminded me initially of the Rolo candy bar. Also got some roasty nuts. Maybe even some coffee beans and dark chocolate.

Tasted slightly different than the smell. Got those roasted nuts, but also a sweet taste, like an espresso. Not as dark chocolate/coffeeish as the smell, but still sweet and flavorful.

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. Very smooth.

Really liked this beer. Three words to sum it up would be nutty, espresso and smooth.

Big light brown head quickly falls into a decent carbonated lacing above a clear reddish amber colored beer.

Big hazel nut aroma pretty much drowns out anything else.

Big hazel nut taste pretty much over powers anything else.

Light dry aftertaste that brings with it some of the hazel nut on this medium bodied brown ale.

Ok for a bottle or two but really wouldn't want to drink to much of this stuff, although it might be pretty good with the right food pairing.

This comes in the latest mixed 12 pack from Samuel Adams.

Pours a mild brown with a thin head into my glass. One can see through the body a bit. Wonder if it's thick?

Nutty aroma with a touch of brown sugar (or is it molasses?) in the nose. Perfect fall beer to me.

Ditto on taste. Sweet and nutty with a chewy texture. Very tasty. House yeast peeks through a bit but not enough to ruin the flavor profile.

Lingering chewy malt and nutty goodness serve to impress. Tasty. Carbonation is a bit high though.

One of the better ales available in the current 12 pack. Check it out!

Pours a chestnut brown, with thin cap of khaki tinted head. Scent if sweet toffee, toasted nuts and hazlenut extract. Taste mellows out the expected sweetness and artificial/extract notes found in scent. Nutty toffee and hazlenut play very nice together... really enjoying this as I hope for cooler and dryer weather. Medium bodied, bubbly, a little more heft would do some good. All in all, impressed with the taste of this beer.

Definitely get the sweet smell of hazelnut and deep rich almost burnt roasted malts. Velvet sweet rich roasted malts mixing in with the quite sweet hazelnut. It ends with the Noble spicy hops with a bit of earthy hops from the east kent goldings.

When I had the first beer that was in the mix pack I thought it was a bit too sweet and the hazelnut extract came off a little cheap but now with this second beer I'm appreciating the beer more. The sweetness of the hazelnut and rich roasted malts blend in really well together and the Noble hops really come through at the end with the spicy bitterness. I'll definitely be glad to have it again in another mix pack.

Into a pint glass:

A: dark brown body that leaves a half finger white foamy head that lasts for a good minute. Some foamy rings are left in the lace.

S: nuts, malts, and light toffee.

T: previously mentioned flavors with some light chocolate.

M: medium with nothing harsh on the tongue. It is very drinkable.

O: this is a pretty good beer that I won't have a problem drinking the rest.

Poured into a Samuel Adams perfect pint glass. Pours clear toffee brown with a three-finger length eggshell colored head. The head retreats at a moderate pace. Some lacing is left on the side of the glass and a cap of head is left atop the beer. I can pick up aromas of caramel malt and hazelnut. It is not a strong aroma. The flavors of hazelnut and caramel malt hit the mouth right at the start. It's mildly sweet and very nutty. The nutty character from the hazelnut remains in the aftertaste. I also pick up some hops on the back end. The body is light with moderate carbonation. The drinkability is high. This is a very good beer.
