Koch nearly always gets it right in regards to the pour, no exception here. Nice fluffy foam that lingers well, moderate lacing. The aroma is quite pleasant, the fruity blueberry is just right on the nose. Somehow it doesn't translate well in the taste area, while crisp and refreshing, it doesn't have the right balance of malt and fruit flavor that I'd hoped for. It's no Cherry Wheat, which I find exceptional. As it sits in the glass the aroma continues to satisfy, overall it's quite drinkable, just not remarkable for the style.

Purchased today, part of a variety 12-pack - Best before October 2014, served from bottle into a 14 oz. Sea Dog Brewing (Blueberry Wheat Ale) glass. Cheers!

Aroma: Straight up blueberry pancake syrup, with a toasty biscuit malt backbone. Slight hoppy citrus, and a hint of red apple peel.

Appearance: One finger of foamy white head. Holds decent retention, and nice streamers of lace. Nothing to out of the ordinary here.

Taste: Surprisingly the malt and blueberry blend well to create a flaky crust covered cobbler flavour. Happily the blueberry was not to overwhelming.

Palate: Odd film left on the tongue from the syrupy body. Crisp carbonation on the tip of the tongue, but ends with a ever so slight dry finish.

Overall: Not my cup of tea, but if I had to drink a blueberry beer, it would probably be this one

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint glass

The color us a hazy orange with a finger of foamy white head and just the slightest of lacing left on the glass.

The smell has a nice blueberry aroma that also teases at a slight orange twang. Really fruity in the nose and promises some touches of raspberry or strawberry too.

The taste is blueberry right at the start with a crisp sweet malt that swings through the palette quickly without pushing off any berry flavor. Once things get toward the end the bitterness makes an appearance and hits leaving a slight smack on your tongue.

The feel is light with a great drinkable feel and makes for a good summer drinker. The crisp body carries some of the sweetness along and keeps things interesting.

Sam Adams' Blueberry Hill Lager - Not their best fruit beer, but good nonetheless. Out of the bottle is has a surprisingly hazy hue to it. You can see the carbonation and it pours a thick, white head that has nice staying power and lacing. The odor emitted is simply awesome. A nice mixture of blueberries, oranges, and hops that mixes oh so well in your nose. The mouthfeel was mostly disappointing - too much aftertaste for my liking. Taste-wise it was pretty good - the blueberries don't quite mix as well with the citrus as the bottle tries to lead you to believe, but it's not altogether too bad. Overall, it's almost outstanding, but certainly very good.
