Sam Adams Secret Ale: On cask at the Real Ale Festival. Hazy deep amber color, with about the amount of head one would expect: not much. In a line up of some of the best beers on the planet, this one simply cannot compete. It had a fairly flat/yeast flavor, and the fruity flavors that mark this style of beer were strangely subdued. The dominant taste was a strange sourness. To be fair, on any other night, I’d have loved this beer, but at the real ale fest, not so much.
