Appearance - Pours a hazy, mellow golden color with a white half finger head. Fair retention. Spotty lacing, with fair stick.

Smell - Wheat, light milkiness, subtle corriander. Typical witbier aroma.

Taste - Moderate notes of milky wheat character. Lesser notes of citrus hits around mid-taste, and the faintest touch of spice near the finish, which is clean and light.

Mouthfeel - Refreshingly light, with moderate carbonation. Goes down smooth and easy, with a quenching quality.

Overall - Not a very flavorful brew, but what this witbier lacks in flavor, it makes up for in a light, refreshing drinkable quality. Maybe it's because I got a light workout in before review, but this thing is really hitting the spot. Probably would have been better mixed in with the Sam Summer pack, and not the Spring pack that comes out before the snow has even thawed.

Come on SA...really? Another unimaginative white ale? Not to mention its barely Januaey and youre already force feeding the masses (which is obviously who most SA are designed for now).

All that said, its not bad. Kind of a Summer Ale and White Ale hybrid. Both of which are ok but mixed?...meh.

Purchased at a local chain grocery store in Hillsboro, NH (did the last guy really pay 20$ in cali for this 12er????) and poured into a Gritty McDuff pint glass.

Looks like your typical heffy (thats hefeweizen) with its hazy, orangish color with an ok 1 finger head.

Smell is slight citrusy/wheat aroma.

Taste def.has orange, tangerine, an maybe lemon right up front. Not much alchohol smell and whatever hops are in there seem to be the usual SA standbys. Def.better cold than warm.

Overall, i guess this wobbly pop is ok, easy to drink, and easy on the wallet (unless u live in cali appearantly). I guess what my problems with this (and other recent SA selections) is that its obviously brewed for the masses, forced into stores waaaay too early (its still jan.in New England and spring beers are better in spring), and ever since SA got rid of the White Ale, every seasonal 12er has some lame attempt at originality. Stick with what git u there Jim.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 ounce bottle into a pint glass. The label lists the abv at 5% and there is a short description of the beer.

Appearance : It has a hazy old golden color with a tall white head. The head has good retention and lacing is ok.

Smell: The nose has some mild spice and lemony citrus notes.

Taste / Palate: Sams White Lantern has a smooth light palate with a light malt base, a hint a spice and a touch of citrusy bitterness.

Part of the Samuel Adams Mix-pack. 12 ounce bottle, with "Enjoy before" dating notched onto the label. (July 2013)

Hazed medium tangarine, lite khaki head, leaving respectable blobs of lace.

Muted pepper and some dull yeast on the nose.

Middle of the road wit, with typical light pepper, faint coriander and a yeasty presence. Not bad stuff, would work on a warm summer's day with some salads, cheese and crusty bread.

SA makes more craft beer with training wheels

Poured from a bottle into a Sam Adams Glass.

Appearance: Hazy amber color. Thin white head and slight lacing on the glass.

Smell: Hops, Citrus and pine and malt notes.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth medium bodied. Taste of citrus(more orange than anything) hops and bitter pine notes.

Overall: This was a decent brew, I drank the whole 6 pack of it my wife got me, so I guess it was good!

This is definitely a Belgian wit. Compared to some others this version from SA is real heavy on the orange-especially the peel. Spicy-lots of coriander. Plenty of malt body but it is overshadowed by the heavy dose of orange peel and coriander. Carbonation is appropriately medium/high. An ok wit-would prefer it a little more naked.

12 oz bottle at fridge temp poured into a large tulip. Best before JUN 2014.

Pours a hazy deep golden orange color. Creamy white head that eventually fades to a foamy ring. No real lacing.

Banana with big orange peel notes. Spice from the yeast and maybe coriander.

Banana, orange peel citrus, crisp wheat, almost fakery perfumery tasting, lots of fruity notes and hints of spice either from the yeast or coriander or both.

Fairly light in body, easy drinking.

Not a terrible beer, but way too similar to so many other Sam Adams beers of a similar style. Not worth drinking again. Lacks complexity.
