I am surprised by the low ratings. This beer is quite good for a wit with spice. Pours a cloudy light gold with a fair head that has low lacing that dissipates quickly. Not much nose, but there is slight floral sweetness present. Balance is outstanding with a stylistic mouthfeel. It finishes with a burst of spice, as intended, with no hop bitterness aftertaste. This a very good summer ale - quite drinkable.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Expiration date of Jan 2014.

The pour is a cloudy pale yellow with a big, fluffy and frothy milk shake-like head that lingers. Busy carbonation.

The aroma has a few Wit characters including pale malts, orange citrus, and dough. But I also get a cellar-like musty quality to it too.

Light to medium body but fairly creamy.

The taste is a step up from what I expected after the aroma. Decent spicy and citrus notes mingle well with the biscuit malts and a smooth slightly lingering finale.

Appearance: Hazy golden yellow, with lots of fat, slow rising bubbles and some modest suspended sediment. The head is small, white, and rather dense, and retains well. The lacing is thick and glass-coating.

Aroma: Wheat, citrus, and coriander dominate the aroma, with coriander winning out over the citric notes. There is a mildly sweet character as well.

Taste: Opens with a fairly strong flavor of bread-like wheat malt, and a little earthy bitterness. Citrus rind and coriander soon increase in prominence. A slight clove presence appears as well. Finishes with wheat malt, and a moderate earthy bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and full, with just a hint of carbonation.

Drinkability/notes: A very decent example of the style.

Presentation: Packaged in a custom twelve-ounce brown glass long neck bottle with a pry-off crown, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

Poured from the bottle into a standard pint glass.

A- Poured a hazy, dark yellow color. A thick looking white head came up and quickly dissipated. There was a little bit of lacing, but nothing to write home about.

S- I really liked the smell. A healthy amount of citrus, but more sweet citrus than I usually get from white ales. There is also some sweet malt and a little spice thrown in.

T- Starts off with a slight acidity, then sits on the tongue and the spice tingles. There is a slight bitterness at the back of the taste and some citrus after-taste hangs out for a while.

MF- Not much head to speak of, but the tighter carbonation stuck around.

Overall, this is a nice little white ale. I probably won't have too many more due to the season, but I'll look for some more next year.
