A clear dark brown with ruby edges and a finger's width tan colored head that laces the glass.
Roasted malt and maple syrup aroma. Also some pecan in there....it does resemble pecan pie with the extreme sweet and nutty aroma.
Initial flavor is of roasted malt and then the maple flavor kicks in. There is a touch of pecan in there, but it's tough to tell with the strong maple flavor. Very sweet, bordering on cloying.
Medium feel with good carbonation to fill it out.
Flavors here are as advertised, if you are a fan of maple and pecan then this would be a good beer for you. For me it was a bit too sweet. Tough to finish a whole beer.

Aroma: maple, beer.
Appearance: dark brown, thin white head.
Taste: malty, ash, honey, nut,
Feel: a little flat,
Ok...maple is just right, but pecan is muted. Maybe that’s for the better as too much pecan would bitter this too much. Not very bold for a porter, but tasty enough.

Pours a deep brown with a hint of red and a nice tan head. It is a little lighter colored than most porters. It has a rich, nutty scent. There is a complex blend of chocolate, coffee, nuts, and maple with hearty malt backbone in the initial taste of this porter. In the aftertaste the maple flavor really takes over. The maple is definitely strong, but to me it is not overwhelming, though I think some would disagree. It has a very sweet finish making it a nice dessert porter similar to a chocolate porter. It is a little bit light and a little over-carbonated for a porter, however, I actually really like this and I think it is one of the better Sam Adams beers that I’ve had. It has a similar appeal to their chocolate bock, which is also one of my favorites. I think the maple idea is a really unique and interesting one that I think could be used for other styles of beer as well.

Light brown, amber, auburn, minimal head, yet a good amount of visibility with the color.
Aroma delivered in the maple realm. Toasty nuts.
Taste, good amount of maple to match the body. One of the more enjoyable SA beers. Mouthfeel is breakfast pancakes.
