Bought the seasonal pack precisely because it included a maple pecan porter. How could I not buy this?

Pours perfectly. Fantastic tan head over a dark cola colored porter. Lacing evident as the foam recedes.

Aroma is a bit light though the main flavors as noted on the label clearly come through.

Right on the first sip, the maple and pecan are undeniable. There is a slight roastiness underneath, as is common in most porters I've had. However while that roast characteristic usually is a bit much for much taste in porters, I really like how it is balanced in this beer.

If this was available as a stand alone purchase outside of the seasonal pack, I would be buying this in greater quantities. Bet it goes great with pancakes.

Appearance: Dark chestnut; frothy medium beige head; long lasting, good lacing

Aroma: Sweet; light praline smell; light coffee smell; faint chocolate

Taste: Sweet malt dominates up front; light maple syrup flavor mixed with pralines; good carbonation level; ends sweet and smooth; pretty tasty overall

Remarks: Did not score A, T, S, M at that time; disregard those scores

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint" glass. Pours a dark red/black with a small off white head. Smells of some coffee, but it almost smells if maple syrup was dumped in the beer, but it doesn't ruin it. Tastes initially of coffee very strongly, then finishes very nicely with the maple syrup, very nice contrast and balance. Beer is very lightly carbonated, and for a medium body, goes down nicely and could possibly be sessionable. Overall a very good beer.

Appearance: Dark brown with some reddish hues and one finger of light tan head that fades to a thin cap with a curtain of lace.

Aroma: Roasted malt and cocoa, that's about it.

Taste: Just a hint of syrup sweetness at the onset, then lots of roasted malt. As the malt fades a little, there is a definite maple note that pokes up leading to a slightly nutty, chalky and fairly astringent finish. A good amount of carbonation towards the back end help break-up any one flavor.

The Rest: Body is just on the thin side of medium and drinkability is very good. This is the second beer in the sampled pack that I've been quite impressed with.
