The distinct hop character of an IPA in a smooth lager. The hops in this brew lend a bright grapefruit, citrus, floral aroma and flavor with a refreshing, crisp lager finish

From notes 2/26/13: Pours a clear coppery amber producing 1.5 fingers of frothy, short-lived, white head that leaves rings, webs and streaks of lace as it recedes. Aroma is heavy to pine with hints of grapefruit, pineapple/mango, lager yeast and a little caramel in a bitter background. Taste is bready, bitter pine, citrus and lager yeast with a hint of honey. Finishes dry and bitter with a rapidly diminishing bitter and drawing (astringent) aftertaste. An interesting mixture of hops and yeast. Taste like a heavily hoped version of Boston Lager which some might hold as an improvement.

This a well executed and gorgeous beer. Pours dark gold with towering, fluffy head. Aroma of hops, like an IPA. taste is hops with a malt backbone. This a really excellent beer.

Poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a thin pale orange color with an adequate transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a finger's worth of white foamy head that swiftly died off. Not much lace.
The aroma had a bright zesty to spicy grassy hoppiness bold and up front with some pine and citrus rind flowing on into that.
The flavor was moderately spicy with a balanced zesty to sweet hop contour enabling a fairly bright pine and citrusy aspect about it. Aftertaste was definitely spicy and sweet adding in a little bit of lager-like breadiness.
The mouthfeel was between light and medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it. Hop bite isn't too distracting in this one. Light oily sort of feel rolled over my tongue. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt appropriate. Finish was semi-oily with a little bit of spice and zest.
Overall, as an India pale lager, I'd say this works. I'd have again.
