Aroma: Big sticky, hoppy, and pithy citrus and pine notes up front. Orange rind dominates as the beer warms. Clean fermentation character. No alcohol heat.

Appearance: Bright amber pour with yellow edging. Pillowy off-white head that retains well. Appears still in the glass.

Flavor: Light lemon zest and orange rind up front. A touch of caramel sweetness followed by more citrus hop flavors. Kind of reminds me of orange juice. Balance is to the bitterness. Finish is very clean and dry.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Slightly oily and creamy. No alcohol heat.

Overall impression: A good beer with an identity crisis. Smells like an IPA, tastes like a pale ale, and claims to be a lager. I don't care what it is but it's a finely crafted beer and I'll gladly have another.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Samuel Adams perfect pint glass. Purchased in North Providence, RI.

A - Pours a completely clear golden body with a midsize white head that reduces at a medium rate and leaves uniform white lacing.

S- Tropical with mango, grapefruit, and citrus notes. Sweet malt in the background.

T- Very juicy, follows the nose with mango, apricot, grapefruit, and citrus notes. Very light pine hoppy aftertaste.

M- Medium body, medium carbonation and very easy to drink. Sessionable indeed.

Samuel Adams really outdid themselves with this one. Reminds me of the highly ranked APAs, especially due to it's tropical nature. I'm convinced that if this wasn't a Sam Adams beer it would be rated 10 points higher. Recommendable.

[Suggested Glassware: Lager Glass]

The pour was a crystal clear light orange with a large (2-3 finger) white fluffy head that diminished slowly, down to a few large puddles and large collar with good sticky lacing.

The aroma was of a grain malt, floral and pine hops and a moldy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit and orange peel) and a touch of tropical fruit.

The taste was nice and hoppy right off the bat with a slight floral taste and a touch of citrus and caramel early on, and then had a light bitter citrus peel presence take over along with a bold pine hop presence and had a light fruity ending. The flavor hung around for an average duration after the swallow, with a decent hoppy fruity taste left to settle on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was light in body and dry in texture with a lively carbonation.

Overall this was an exceptionally smooth and easy to drink brew, with a nice hoppy beginning and a mild fruitiness at the end...

Part of the Hop Tour 6 Pack

A clear orange color, with almost no head and little lacing on the edges.

Tastes of a crisp clean light lager, with the hops layered in over the top and finish. It's flavorful and interesting, but the hops start to quickly overtake the traditional lager flavors. The hops are a bit too assertive for what is usually a lighter flavor profile with a lager such as this.

The mouth feel is light to moderate, and pretty smooth. No sticky mouth feel after drinking, as you get sometimes with really hoppy beers. This is on the lighter end.

Overall, was enjoyable as part of the hop tour side by side tasting. Not going to knock your socks off, but enjoyable non the less. This was a nice study of different hop beers (hop tour 6 pack), but there are better options out there for an IPA.

12 oz bottle poured into a SA pint glass
enjoy by AUG 2013

A- Pours crystal clear copper orange with a one finger white head.

S- A crispy malt backbone and a sharp and clean hoppiness. A floral and very tropical aroma. Lager yeast is notable.

T- A sharp bitterness up front. A sweet malt and classic lager yeast strain are very apparent at first. A very floral and fresh hop bitterness. A slightly resinous and sticky hop feel. A tropical pineapple and orange in this beer. Some lemon and grass as well. A perfect 50/50 of a pale lager and an IPA.

M- A lighter beer. Extremely drinkable and very flavorful for the ABV. Bitter and sweet.

O- This is a nice beer. Considering the price, availability, drinkability and uniqueness. I tip my hat to SA.
