Appearance: Lightly cloudy. Yellowish orange.
Smell: Some spice and citrus. Wheat.
Taste: Some spice and citrus. Wheat.
Mouthfeel: Decent carbonation.
My first thought was that it tasted like a crispier Blue Moon. The smell is enjoyable, and the taste is slightly more so. The citrus and spice are wrapped in a wheat-tasting body. A certain spice lingers in your throat after each drink. It's not a bad drink. I probably wouldn't get it again. However, I do like that spicy/peppery burn aftertaste.

This is a dark golden colored witbier with a very thin white head and an abundance of carbonation. The scent is not at all typical of a Belgian beer and is overwhelmingly of sage, something I can’t say I’ve ever smelled this strongly in any beer. Sage is also very strong in the taste along with rye, coriander, clove, pepper, and light hints of fruit. It has a somewhat dry finish and leaves a mildly spicy taste in the mouth. This is a very odd beer, not at all like Sam Adam’s more classic witbier, White Lantern. In fact it is hardly recognizable as a Belgian beer, let alone a witbier at all. This beer makes me feel like I am drinking a deli sandwich, which I strangely kind of dig. This would definitely not be for everyone, and I wouldn’t want to drink it all the time, but for me it’s kind of interesting and I applaud Sam Adam’s creativity here.
