Pours a clear golden yellow with a medium white head, slowly fading with some light lacing. Aroma is strawberry, some light biscuit malt and grains. Taste same as aroma, mostly biscuit malt and grains with light bitter tones. A light body, crisp with good carbonation. There are some light notes of strawberry flavor on the end. Could use a bit more strawberry but still a good refreshing summer brew.

I have had this and its two companions sitting in my reefer for over a year! It just seemed like they would get shunted to the side in favor of CANs or any other bright, shiny objects that came into my view. I have now dedicated myself to eradicating the backlog of bottles in my life and these suddenly came due.

From the bottle: "Dave wanted to create a refreshing summertime beer, something that he could enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day."; "This lager has a bright and fresh strawberry character balanced with toffee and citrus notes."

Employing a gentle pour, I got a finger of fizzy, bone-white head with limited retention that quickly fell to wisps. Color was a pretty sunshine-yellow (SRM = 4) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled of strawberries and cereal, grainy, lightly malty. Mouthfeel was medium. Taste was slightly tangy, undoubtedly a by-product of the strawberries. It was light, crisp, clean and the strawberry flavors did not overwhelm the light flavors of the lager. Strawberry is one of those tastes that is hit-or-miss, unlike raspberry, where you can simply expect a tartness each and every time. In this instance, it was pleasant. Finish was semi-dry, but I was getting neither the toffee nor the citrus notes mentioned on the neck label. Congratulations, Dave, but I would not want more than one of these.

"Dave wanted to create a refreshing summertime beer, something that he could enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day. This lager has a bright and fresh strawberry character balanced with toffee and citrus notes." Brewed in the style of a fruit lager. This is one of the Longshot American Homebrew Contest 2012 winners, released amongst 2 other beers in the variety 6 pack. Available in 12 oz. bottles and on limited draft.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a pint glass. Served above 56º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a frothy, foamy pastel white head over a pale amber body. Clarity is impeded by flecked pulpy sediment and a moderate haze. Carbonation is plentiful and energetic. Retention is above average and lacing is light and streaked. 3.5

(Smell) Very syrupy strawberry pulp body with a moderate tartness in tow, akin to strawberry fruit snacks. Very clean but very sweet. Potency is high. 3.25

(Taste) Sugary sweet strawberry fruit snack sweetness, a balancing tartness over a very clean pale and caramel malt body. Enjoyable but perhaps a bit strong on the strawberry angle for some, although I appreciate the balance of tart strawberry character that makes the collective strawberry less artificial tasting, it comes off almost like a mild Berliner Weisse with strawberry syrup added. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Texture is clean, soft, smooth. Carbonation generates a softer, fluffier texture for a clean, yet filling mouthfeel. Body is medium+ for the style, medium overall. Balance is sweet over tart. Alcohol presence is low and there are few off characters. 3.5

(Overall) Pretty heavy on the strawberry. This would certainly find approval in the macro market and some craft beer drinkers may appreciate this as well, for although it is quite a sweet beer, it manages to present the underripe, tart aspects of strawberries for a better balance and improved drinkability. 3.5
