330 ml bottle, batch #499, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 7.5%. Very dark brown to ruby colour, nearly black. Small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and cherries. Flavour also of coffee, cherries and dark chocolate, moderate hops. Not too sweet. Unusual and interesting.

I'd recommend the Pöhjala Must Kuld-Cherry over this

35cl bottle. Semi-opaque ruby-brown with a thin beige head. Smells of roasted malts, lactose and cherries. Tastes bitter-sweet, a bit too sweet for my taste, with notes of cherries, milk chocolate, roasted malts. Medium-high carbonation and a slightly lower in body than I was expecting. A decent brew, just not quite balanced.

Got this one and their IPA from the wine guy down the road.
From a bottle into a snifter
Best Before June 2018
Batch 380
APPEARANCE: Pours out light brown and yields a 3+ finger, looser, foamy, fizzy, light brown head with decent retention. Opaque light brown body with lots of carbonation evident. Head slowly crackles down to a full foamy cap. Slight wisp remains leaving no real lacing down the glass. A little lack luster, perhaps.
SMELL: Chocolate aromas, sweet cream, some cherries and toffee with roasted malt in there as well. Pretty nice, though gets kind of stale as it sits.
TASTE: Roasted notes, caramel, cacao powder and some cherries up front. More chocolate and cherries at the swallow with a medium but lingering finish of chocolate malts, some burnt flavors, cacao powder, some vanilla and toffee notes and just a touch of cherries as well. Pretty flavorful, though it could be a little more roasted instead of burnt and the cherries could come out a touch more. Still, pretty nice stuff.
PALATE: Medium body and slightly higher carbonation. Definitely creamy but also very foamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes a touch dry.
OVERALL: Okay, but nothing spectacular. There are some good things going on here, but it's a little too foamy for my liking and the cherries could be a little more forthcoming. It also gets kid of stale as it sits, growing old rather quickly. Still, a good effort and something worth a shot if you see it. Cheers!

L: Poors dark brown towards black with some light coming through it. Cocaofoam that resides quickly and leaves a thin layer on top of the liquid. Some lacing on the sides.
S: Roasted malts and coffee. Dark chocolate. Sweetness. Some hoppiness as well. Lastly som fruity characters with just a hint of tartness. Promises much.
T: The roastiness comes first with some coffee to it. When this taste has settled down there is some kind of off taste that I think comes from the cherries, the change of tastes creates a little bit of soapy flavour that luckily does not last that long and is quickly exchanged with some sweet flavours with a nice and big hint of chocolate. The aftertaste is sweet and to some extent bitter.
F: Medium body, little carbonation. Goes down easily allthough I prefer a bit more creaminess in this type of beer.
O: It gets lots of minus points for the soapy taste which I do not appreciate. Overall a nice and interesting beer that satisfies and leaves you with a great taste to linger on. I especially like the heavily roasted malts.

The colour is black (100 EBC). The three finger head is compact and pale brown. It sinks slowly leaving some lacing on the glass.
The smell got distinct notes of roasted/black malt and cocoa. Dry hints of red berries and fruit candy. Some molasses.
The taste is semi-sweet with lots of dark/black malt. Some passing alcohol. It is quite heavy with metallic bitterness. Full body. The aftertaste brings growing clean notes of cocoa and alcohol. Some green plants, burned malts and dry coffee in the long finish.
The carbonation is strong, the small bubbles are long-lived. The liquid is semi-smooth.
A bit too dry and alcoholic. And where are the kirsebær (cherries)?
