Very Good
Notes: Craver is a tribute to the spirit of experimentation and peanut pioneer, George Washington Carver. A classic robust porter mingled with peanut butter, it balances deep, chocolatey notes with a velvet-smooth peanut flavor. Craver Peanut Butter Porter won third place overall in the 2012 Keep Florence Beautiful Brew Fest.

On tap

Pours a deep brown color with a small creamy off white head that has nice retention. Smells of brown malts and roasted peanuts. Peanut flavor is much more present an the taste, producing a nice roasted note, along with some deep chocolate notes, vanilla cream and caramel. The roasted peanut xo tongues to the finish, leaving a longer of chocolate covered peanut. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish. Solid peanut butter Porter with plenty of peanut roast

Appearance - dark brown but see through. Smell - just like roasted peanut butter. Taste - this is very solid I get peanut butter all day. Overall - would get this again.

STYLE American Porter | ABV 6.0% | AVAILABILITY Year-round

Peanuts, Cocoa, Treacle, Roasty

A very well put together Porter meets peanut flavor. You’d think that would be the end of this story, but the twist here is the underlying chocolate-like maltiness: a quick kiss of sweetness within the roasted grain flavors. The Porter part of this brew may have been somewhat easy to come up with, while working out the peanut butter flavor and keeping it balanced is the hard part. Seminar Brewing ended up getting it all right. Impressive.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and a thick consistency. There was an inch and a half of creamy, tan-colored, long-lasting head. Not much lacing.

S: An okay aroma of malt, chocolate, and the advertised peanut butter.

T: Tasted of light chocolate notes, a little bit of hops, roasted malt, and peanut butter; this last item seems to come through more in the finish (and especially in the aftertaste) than anywhere else. An uneven flavor, but definitely pretty tasty.

F: A highly carbonated beer with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This is one of those beers that gets better the more you drink it. Not without its flaws, but definitely worth a shot.

The peanut butter comes thru upon smelling, not so much upon the initial taste. Now, if you hold that taste in your mouth for a few seconds, then the PB comes thru.

Continue to be impressed by Seminar. Very solid brew. Peanut butter is definitely secondary flavor but the Porter base stands up sufficiently that it's very nice. Will be purchasing this again.

Peanut butter features more prominently in the nose than in the flavor. Still, it adds a wonderful complexity to the rich, chocolate flavors and subdued roast. One of the better PB Porters I've had.

Not a bad beer at all slight peanut butter taste is apparent at first but fades. As a porter it holds its own. From tap slight foam fades quickly dark, burnt coco flavor spreads evenly in the mouth. Slight caramelly flavor, but once you know it is peanut butter it is hard to get beyond that. Worth a try.

Hits exactly what it's going for. Huge peanut butter nose. Taste follows the nose. Rich, roasted peanuts with a creamy mouthfeel. Slight roast compliments the PB and makes this very drinkable.
